Somehow, Someone Stole A 1-Ton Statue Out Of Anita Bryant’s Yard

Authorities are scratching their heads as to how someone was able to get away with the statue, which reportedly belongs to Anita Bryant, who campaigned against gay rights in the 1970s, and her husband.

Investigators in the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office are asking the public for assistance in finding a large marble statue stolen from Anita Bryant and her husband Charlie Dry, Oklahoma’s News9 reports.

-snip-

The statue is worth $30,000, according to the report.

Bryant, 74, is a singer and former Miss Oklahoma and Miss America runner-up. She became known as an outspoken opponent of gay rights in the 1970s, leading campaigns against LGBT rights and protections across the country.

for a variety of reasons, including her excess, gaudy taste, and history of bigotry. Most poster here have little to no sympathy for an outspoken rich bigot who loses a hideous piece of rock.

and I've been trucking hay in since April to feed our critters. My well barely pumps enough water for a decent shower and our "seasonal" creek has been dry since February 2013. The oak trees that surround our home are beginning to show stress. Believe me, I know a drought when I see one.

So yeah, my comment about Ms Bryant's lawn may have been over the top but there's still no excuse for putting a piece of crap like that anywhere near your home.

I saw her on TV; I watched her orange juice commercials. I thought she was pretty and pleasant and wholesome.

It wasn't until several years later, when I was reading MAD Magazine (of all things) that I learned of her virulent homophobia. (I'm straight. It would have taken me longer anyway.)

Anyway, I've felt nothing but revulsion for her since that time.

I second the wish expressed above that the statue appears in a pride parade somewhere, sometime soon...

Case solved in one minute:

How was it stolen? Bobcat and a dump truck. A lot of people have Bobcats; one of the people who lives on her street watches until the two of them leave then cranks up his own personal Bobcat, scoops up the ugly-ass statue, throws the shit in the dump truck, rakes the Bobcat tracks out of the front yard, and heads down the road. Five minutes, tops.

Suspects? See if anyone on their street owns a Bobcat.

Where is the statue now? Check the river. That's what I would have done with it, anyway.

Ten pounds of detagel at various points on the statue, and you guarantee it'll never be found again. Then throw the chunks in a crusher and put them down on a road somewhere.

I still would have thrown it in the river.
