Church youth group produces "slapstick" video for 7th graders, gets predictable backlash

http://www.addictinginfo.org/2014/06/04/conservative-christian-youth-group-promotes-violence-against-women-video-they-think-hilarious-video/

Violence against women is NOT funny. But for some sick reason, conservative Christians think it’s not only acceptable in our society, they think it’s absolutely hilarious. A Christian youth pastor and his group is now finding out the hard way that most Americans reject this kind of outrageous thinking.

Youth E.D.G.E Indy is a Christian group that operates as part of Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. In a video meant to be shown to 7th graders, youth pastor Nate Utley and members of his group performed what they believed to be a funny demonstration of how to deal with people who break rules. In one shot, Utley beats a woman with a baseball bat until she is lifeless on the floor simply because she disrespected him. In another shot, he beats a girl again because she didn’t throw a pizza box into the trashcan. Though it was apparently meant to be some kind of attempt at “humor,” it’s unbelievable that in today’s society there are people who think beating a woman unconscious is something that makes people laugh. Other acts of violence in the six minute video include cutting off someone’s hand (complete with fake blood) for not returning a borrowed cell phone and hitting kids with tennis balls. Seriously, this happened.

I mean, I hope that there never has been one--not that one existed and mysteriously disappeared.

I guess he forgot that whole spiel that nice Jewish boy said about "do unto others have you would have done unto you" or "let ye without sin cast the first tennis ball." OK, I may have paraphrased the last one.

It came as no surprise to find it this was from Chuck Phelps church. I guess he dodged those obstruction of justice charges and is still practicing his hate against females.

" this youth group belongs to a church led by anti-women pastor Chuck Phelps. This is the same Chuck Phelps who shamed a 15-year-old girl for being raped and impregnated by a church deacon in 1997. Phelps allegedly told the girl that she should’ve been stoned to death and his wife allegedly asked the girl if she enjoyed being raped. The poor girl was then humiliated in front of the congregation. The incident occurred in New Hampshire at the Independent Fundamental Baptist Church.".

Just thought I'd add that for people who didn't read the whole article.

If it WAS real, the preacher would put the video in (the dork level of the presenter is not nearly as big an atrocity as all the violence, but it's still pretty bad) and the new prospect would watch it. At the end...

"And those are our rules. Any questions?"

is that normal teen sex exploration (the kissy kissy stuff) is wrong while physical abuse is OK.

Is this what is sick about religion or what?
