They need to just show off the Before Rescue and After Rescue comments...and if they have them on audio or video SAYING the words, so much better, still!

(18,115 posts)shit routinely. But, did the repubs really criticize for NOT trading prisoners last year? I wouldn't be surprised, I just don't remember that.

(18,115 posts)That deals with scrubs of initial praise of Bergdahl's release. I was asking about criticism for NOT swapping prisoners last year.

(23,156 posts)this topic last night on her show.
She's covered it many times. The Republicans complain about something Obama has not done, and then when he does it they immediately start screaming about that. Over and over.
I gather the regular media never bothers to call them out on that. I wouldn't really know because I don't watch those people any more. I do recall how upset Romney was when Candy Crowley, during one of the debates, actually playing the tape of something Mitt said which in the debate he was trying to deny he'd said.

(3,539 posts)and predominate reaction was fear and not see the beauty in in? Bumble bees come to mind.
Have you ever hated something so intently that you fail to see that it too has a place. Dandylines for example.
Blinded by fear and hate. Human nature shows that some are more vulnerable than others.
The GOP entices those with that nature.
Fear and hate can also be nurtured.
It is the stock and trade of the GOP to grow those emotions.
When the hate grows strong enough that you must feel superior. When the fear becomes so intense that you must find a strong leader.
Yes, They'll believe ANYTHING.

(1,269 posts)Have you seen the studies that show the Republican brain is emotion based whereas the liberal is thought based? They have scans that show their brains light up around the amygdala gland, the center of emotion, and the liberal is more spatial orientation.
I think this is key to finding a way to move them along. Just keep showing them that the roots of their politics is fear-based, and get them to stop and think. I always slip stuff like that in on them when we're chatting, unfortunately I work with them. They just don't see it coming. "Well, you can come at it from the fear-based perspective and you'll get that conclusion, or see it from a more empowered position.."
Deer in the headlights, every time.

(14,570 posts)The thing to remember is the 'crazy base,' otherwise known (by Chris Matthews and others) as the 'klown kar,' only makes up about 15-20% of the voting population. Independents, who crave sanity, and Democrats make up a much more significant portion of persons who vote in general elections.
I've often said that people, whatever their party affiliation, should take the trouble to look at what those they elect DO rather than what they SAY. For instance the GOP has been harping about jobs, jobs, jobs since 2009, but these last two Congresses have been the LEAST PRODUCTIVE in the history of the United States, and they have wasted lots of taxpayer money doing NOTHING. They even shut down the government, which cost billions in foregone economic activity, thus proving they are INCAPABLE (particularly on the GOP side) of doing their BASIC JOB.
When you pay attention to what they are doing, and then call up their office to give your feedback, which we all should be doing, a good thing to ask is, "How does this new legislation help the American people? How will it help me?"
For instance, my US Representative, Cory Gardner (R-CO), sponsored and the house passed the 'Reducing Excessive Deadlines Act' in December 2013. OK, I thought - I'll see what it says. I read it and found that it allows companies responsible for toxic spills to 'self regulate' and determine their own financial liability IF ANY (it actually SAYS 'if any'), and passes the risk and the cost of cleanup directly onto taxpayers at the state and federal level. When I called his office and asked how this helps the average American, his staffer simply could not answer.
That's why more people need to CALL them up when they do stuff like this!
