US military recruitment and retention?
'Cause it probably won't be good.

(107 posts)Military recruitment is no longer an issue. Future budgets provide for downsizing regardless of who the voters elect in 2016.
Anything the GOP can do to make a draft more likely isn't all bad, imho.

(2,529 posts)The military is getting more discriminating about their recruits and now that they aren't so desperate for cannon fodder, they're being picky. My nephew is preparing to enlist in the Navy Reserves and they told him that they would accept his one tattoo that was religious and the other one because it could be covered by his shirt sleeves. They told him, however, that his ear piercings had to be closed when he went for his physical. If they could shine a light through the holes, he wouldn't be allowed in. That sure wasn't how they were playing the game when they were enlisting anyone that had a pulse for the Gulf Wars.
Most in the military vote for republicans, so IMO it isn't going to matter.
