a Vietnam vet or just wore the uniform during that period, you were pigs and cursed and spit on. I don't remember going after families though. Kind of takes it to new heights of crudeness and crassness.

But to answer your question, I vividly remember the great parades, marching bands and throwing flowers at our troops as they proudly marched down Main Ave........yeah, right. Sarcasm intended in case anyone missed it.

We believed them at the time, but they were apparently propaganda aimed at keeping gullible vets out of the antiwar movement. (Didn't work with me.)

I certainly wouldn't dispute anyone's first-hand experience. Maybe the vitriol was saved for those who volunteered. I actually hadn't heard of any verified spitting stories, at least as regards vets. But, as Rumsfeld would say, "Absence of evidence…"

No, doesn't ring a bell at all.

At the same time, that was a blanket reaction on the part of some to anyone wearing the uniform, while the attacks today are based on alleged individual conduct.
