My state has a long history of civil rights issues. A certain Tea Party Republican, Jason Rapert (seen in a Rachel Maddow segment below), is using faith as a reason to oppose same sex marriage. This state state senator was captured on tape making comments about not letting "minorities run roughshod over what you people believe in". However, he recognized he could use faith to drive a wedge in the African-American community in Arkansas by dividing them over same sex marriage (Some see it as a civil rights issue while others see it as a biblical matter). This could fracture a group of what has traditionally been Democratic voters. He organized this event. He's on the front row looking directly at the camera.

It was a nasty political stunt bringing a very complex issue to the forefront before the November elections. I'm just bringing attention to it and I'm most certainly not trolling.

Rapert has also been in the news for his abortion laws. This was the Rachel Maddow segment showing his comments at a Tea Party rally:

55 years later, there are those who would still deny US citizens equal rights.

by my reckoning. Or 9 adult men to 2 adult women for 1959, if you want (the children were probabyl dragged along without a choice).

in observance of their men. Here is a wider shot showing a few more women in attendance. The majority of people protesting IN FAVOR of same sex marriage were women, incidentally.
