I need a new wheel thanks to a huge pothole. The asshats vote down tax increases, that would repair our roads and pay our public servants more money. They don't care if the whole town goes to hell in a hand basket. I have so much anger and contempt for all of them.

(102,141 posts)and had many fond memories of the town, its restaurants and especially music scene. It has likewise been run by teapublicans the past decades, the downtown area nearly dead and all the wonderful restaurants and amenities essentially gone. I was devastated and couldn't wait to leave. This town had been so vibrant with a powerhouse university football team and music scene that has produced some major players. Sigh....
I contrast it to Fort Collins, CO (or Boulder), the home towns to CSU and CU, respectively. Both are progressive, fun and innovative towns--with their own problems, for sure, but both use tax dollars for city amenities, parks, bike trails, open space, city planning. Fort Collins has regularly been among the top small towns in the US, and long among the top five for retired people. Both cities have had progressive politicos in power, despite the surrounding red idiocy of Weld County, areas south of Denver and along the western slope.
Yup.... politics makes a big difference.
