Whats this mean for you, the car owner anywhere else in the country? If youre shopping for used cars in the next few months, a lot of these vehicles are going to end up running through the auction. Keep a sharp eye on the VIN of any late-model used cars youre interested in and see if any of them have been reported as having significant damage from the storm.
You wont have the electrical issues that a car rescued from Hurricane Sandy may have, but if youre buying something advertised as a demo or an executive car, make sure to run a Carfax to see if its ever been damaged. If it was ever delivered via Blair, Nebraska, chances are good it had extensive bodywork.

(28,017 posts)In Nebraska? Do 4500 people even live in that state (who aren't connected to some college football team?)
That's insane. Plus, they KNOW that huge storms tear through there every year. I suspect someone's insurance rates will be exploding in the near future.

(60,334 posts)People who live in small towns and would have to travel 50 miles or more to dealer anyway, so they get on line or on the phone and this dealership has made its business advertising to a super region rather than just locally.
My father-in-law lives in Northwest Missouri and has purchased a couple of cars from them.
When you live in the country, you don't think twice about a 2 - 3 hour trip for something like this.
They also sell nationally on line.

(6,228 posts)Our son has a baseball tournament in Blair this weekend. Apparently the field hosting the tournament is owned by Woodhouse and they have to use the parking lot for all these damaged cars. Fortunately, a softball organization is letting us use one of their fields.

(26,325 posts)He had a huge "Hail Sale".
He sold just about every used car on the lot. He was shipping undamaged used cars from his other locations. Not sure what he did with the new Fords.
He had adjusters on site paying claims to the dealer while he sold the cars as-is at a "discount" (which was no more discounted than usual). He had the windshield people fixing the glass so people could drive off the lot legally.
He made a fucking killing. People were lined up out the door.
