The man’s face shows his emotion...

June 6, 2009 – Pete Souza” “After his speech in Normandy, a crush of people tried to get close to the President to shake his hand. I noticed this guy waiting patiently and then literally being pushed back into the crowd. I felt bad for him, and mentioned the incident to the President’s trip director, Marvin Nicholson. Marvin pulled the guy out of the crowd, found him a wheel chair, and brought him over to meet the President. He was a French veteran. The man’s face shows his emotion.”

How often do we really get to feel that kind of joy? I wish I could have been there with him.

Thank you for sharing.

I give the POTUS a lot of credit for these kinds of "photo ops" (as the cynics would say). I'm a realist, but I try hard not to be overly cynical.

That's a heck of a beautiful photo, Playinghardball!

But at the same, time, a photo isn't necessarily a 'photo op'. There's a difference. Who is the focus of the pic?

In this case, very obviously the overjoyed French veteran.

In the case of B*sh's padded codpiece, 'Mission-Accomplished' pic? Definitely a self-aggrandizing photo-op.

All anyone has to do is listen to the news to have a bad day. A very nice photo-I'm not trying to bring down the thread at all.

And isn't it telling that I compared the photo to financial enumeration? I wish there were better terms. In the end, some things are indisputably, even if arguably by some, a flight or two above owning mere silver and gold.

reminds me of one of the reasons why I first voted for President Obama. I haven't read all the posts, but it's probably already been suggested that some ultra right bigot will accuse him of being pro French, or some such rot.
