I am taking my grandchildren in, as I think my stepdaughter is doing herion again. Sometimes I think I am going to snap.

I got her cleaned up when she was 16. Of course, she went the easy way (methadone). Now that she is back to doing it, I think she needs to do it the old fashioned way- strapped to a bed. I am so angry with what she exposed my grandchildren to, I just don't know what to do. It is hard always being everybody's rock.

you're the foundation and if you're not strong everything else loses out anyway. You deserve help and I hope you fight to get it. Will the grandchildren be going through the courts or will this be an informal thing? (if you don't mind me asking)

she is smart enough to know what I will do if the kids aren't with me. I am lawyered up, and have a friend in CPS.

many of us here at DU are at the other end of the internet if you want to vent.

with me where I know they are safe. It's been almost 2 years for me and we are finally into a routine. The kids get to see their parents often but they are safer just staying with me. I am resigned to raising them and just hope my kids will get their act together. I'm not so hopeful but I love them anyway.

Try to get some rest and don't take on your daughter-in-laws recovery. She has to do that for herself.

It will be hectic- the wife gets knee replacement on the 17th and the next 4 weeks later. I will have an 11 and 4 year old, plus a 7 month old in the house.

As okaawhatever puts it - we're here to vent if you ever need it. Don't forget that. Our own Skittles once put it in a way I just love: "someone's always here."

I took quite a sabbatical myself.. close to two years.. and am not in very much now..but it was the right thing to do!! Yep sometimes real life calls and you have no option but to answer..

Been here since 2002, and what this is now is a site where posters try to "one up" one another in dissing the posts. The politics hardly even matter anymore; it's how smug you can be in criticizing someone who posts here. About had it, and I was once an optimist.

You're one of my favorites.
