“God don’t make no mistakes; all this gay stuff is bullshit,” Morgan said, adding the following about lesbians: “There is no way a woman could love and have sexual desire for another woman, that’s just a woman pretending because she hates a fucking man.”
And then it got personal: “If my son were gay he better come home and talk to me like a man and not [like a homosexual--Morgan mimicked a feminine voice] or I’d pull out a knife and stab that little N***** to death.”

That being said, I hope he recovers and learns a little compassion.

Kevin Rogers is the blogger whose posting called attention to Morgan's ugly "jokes."

Rogers sat next to Morgan Tuesday morning as he publicly apologized.

"He shared his genuine concern with his words and has promised me that his actions going forward are going to be positive and supportive of my community," Rogers said. "I greatly appreciate what he said and really appreciate him taking time out to come back and try and right what I believe to be just a huge mistake."

Morgan said the controversy has given him the "opportunity to change my message onstage."

"In my heart, I really don't care who you love, same sex or not, as long as you have the ability to love, that's the important thing here," he said.

Stand up comedy should "heal people, not hurt," he said.
"I hurt people with this, so from the bottom of my heart I apologize to everybody who I offended with my words on stage," he said.

He went back and faced the music. He acknowledged that he hurt people.

Good. More people should have those kinds of epiphanies.

I hope he pulls through.

Morgan isn't perfect - he fucks up a lot - be he acknowledges it when he does and then stops doing it. I didn't see any reports of further homophobic ugliness from him since this apology.

the number of openly gay people he's probably worked with in his profession. Having been out of his mind on drugs might make it a tiny bit more comprehensible, but only just.

I will say, though, to his credit, he didn't shirk, he didn't "issue a statement," he didn't even sit back and do a "video apology." He went back to the scene of the crime and he looked the people in the eye that he insulted.

That had to take a little bit of fortitude. I liked his apology, too, it was straightforward and talked about the effects of his behavior.

I always say that people have to be taught to hate, just like the song says. That's probably the only unambiguous life lesson he got as a kid--too bad it was a boneheaded/stupid one.

my ass off. Like the time he climbed on top of a TV news desk and puffed out his belly in an "impression" of a pregnant woman.

On the other hand, his infamous comments a few years ago were disgusting, and made me wonder WTF was wrong with him. Not unlike Michael Richards, he sure didn't sound like he was joking.

Regardless, I hope he recovers.

(CNN) -- A Georgia truck driver has been charged in connection with the wreck on the New Jersey Turnpike that left comedian-actor Tracy Morgan in critical condition and another man dead, the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement released Saturday.
Kevin Roper, 35, of Jonesboro, was charged with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto after the tractor-trailer he was driving crashed into the limo bus carrying the comedian and others, the statement said.
NJSP says the driver of the tractor-trailer failed to observe slow-moving traffic ahead," Williams said. "At the last minute, he swerved to try and avoid the Mercedes limo bus but struck it from behind, forcing the limo to rotate and overturn."
A limo passenger, 63-year-old James McNair of Peekshill, New York, was killed and three people besides Morgan were taken to the hospital, authorities said.

McNair was a comedian who performed under the name Jimmy Mack, said his sister, Valerie Daniel. "He spoke very highly of Tracy," she told CNN. "They go way back."
