Rashema Melson, 18, will graduate on June 11. She lives with her mother and two brothers in one room at the D.C. General homeless shelter. Her father was killed when she was 7 months old.

(24,544 posts)She speaks of the days she just didn't want to get up...there must have been many of those. She is to be congratulated for the grit and determination to keep going. I hope she achieves all her goals.

They're our future. Yes, even the ones in the shelters. THEY ALL are our future! Why can't we invest in THEM instead of in bombs and guns and ammo and toxic chemicals and tax shelters?
