Machine gun with a belt loaded. I'm pretty sure it's nonfunctional, but it's impossible to tell. Let the Highway Patrol figure it out. Pull the SOB over with multiple units and get this guy on the ground at gunpoint, and then check the MG.

Seriously...I can't tell if that thing is functional or not, just by looking at it. Screw this moron!

the M-2 heavy machine gun has the link belt in the feeder tray. Transporting firearms while loaded is illegal in most states. The red object on the left side of the housing might be part of a breach/bolt stop, which would prevent chambering a round. Leaving a link belt of ammo dangling down is asking for problems getting the gun to feed. You should feed from a prefabricated ammo can which fits on a real mount (the classic 50-cal ammo box). Which appears to be right under the link belt.....

The 3" bazooka mounted handles up across the rear of the jeep looks real.

The Jeep looks like a late war model (1945).

Possibly a reenactor, need date and place to check local events.

them to show up, so I could watch the fun. The typical Highway Patrol officer wouldn't know if it was functional or not, either, so all due caution would probably be observed. You know, wait for backup, hold the guy at gunpoint...that sort of thing.

I can see the blustering asshole clearly in my mind. He's gonna be late for whatever event he was driving to, and might think to stow his MG under a tarp next time until he gets to the location.

lethal if it was real. You can just fill a Ryder truck with explosives if you really wanted to do harm

I am sure you are fine with all of the spying done with the PATRIOT act also. Sometimes I think people are being made to fear everything and we need to get back to life before all of this fear mongering.

It is a replica military jeep with a display weapon. I would be much more worried about the drunk and distracted drivers than this guy.

If I see a machine gun, apparently loaded with a visible belt of cartridges, I'm calling the cops. You can do whatever you like. You may think you know me and what I think, but you're quite incorrect.

I know a couple of people with functional M2s. I also know some real assholes who like to impress people who don't know anything about firearms. The people with the M2s aren't those people. I'm a big fan of twitting assholes.

So what do you think about the PATRIOT act?

fine if you do not want to talk about other freedoms taken, since it is not direct to the original post. You and I can differ on the OP with the picture and what a person would do.

I tend to see it a different way than you do and it does not bother me, so I would not call 911. Fair enough?

Have a great day!

I'm afraid I'd have to call 911 so the cops could make sure it's non-functional. That would be interesting to watch, I think.

An operational M2 would in the tens of thousands of dollars. If you were planning on doing something illegal you would not carry it like that. Taken in context, it is part of a very well done military reproduction vehicle that is harmless.

you'd think this guy would stow it under a tarp while traveling to the event he's going to, then mount it once he gets there. My guess is that it's non-functional, too, but he's still a moron to drive on a public road with that thing mounted on his Jeep. The ability to spend money isn't equivalent to having three brain cells to rub together.

I wouldn't be the only 911 caller, I'm sure. There are enough wacky assholes out there that it could actually be the real thing. You just never know. As the sign says,

See Something? Say Something! I'm a big proponent of that, for sure, and would be happy to identify myself to whoever answered the 911 call.

The muzzle end of the barrel is all wrong - M2s don't have the two rings or the flared device at the muzzle, and Soviet/Russian DshK-38s have a muzzle brake that's about six inches in diameter right at the tip of the barrel.

And let's be real: a genuine, operable, Class III-transferred Ma Deuce with pintle mount and all accessories is worth more than the Jeep he's driving. You wouldn't just stick it up there to whip around in the wind with no gunner to stabilize it.

The police have better things to do than hear from people over silly stuff.
