All heart and no cattle...

Liberals are bleeding hearts. They tend to believe the best in people.

They believe that people on food stamps need the food. They don't think they are just scamming the government.

They believe that folks getting unemployment checks would prefer a job. They don't think they are lazy and are just laying back watching their favorite TV shows.

They believe that every child should have a good lunch at school. They don't blame the parents if the child comes to school hungry.

They believe that most immigrants are looking for a better life for themselves and their families. They do not believe that they are all criminals or drug mules.

Liberals believe that government should help those in need. They do not believe that government is evil and can do nothing right.

On almost every issue that is debated, liberals give the benefit of the doubt to those that suffer or are in need. They do not vilify or criticize from a superior or unsympathetic position.

At the most basic level, this is the difference in today's political Parties. One has a heart and one does not. Words and rhetoric cannot cover up this most basic human flaw.

Have not been paying attention to the filth known as republicans...I am a liberal and when it comes to the opposition I believe there is nothing on earth as cynical, self-righteous, and hypocritical as this bunch. And I expect nothing that resembles human decency from them but I am sometimes shocked by the levels they stoop to..

that some people will abuse the systems created to help those in need. We just don't choose to take it out on those that do need the services. Benefit of the doubt, innocent until proven guilty and all that other "liberal" stuff.

We also believe people who work for a living should make a living.

And that people who are sick should have health care.

I could go on and on.

I was taught to work for what you have, and always try your best and to see the good in people. That part about working for what you have though a good trait, at one point was leading me in the wrong direction. A place I'm happy to say I'll never see again.

Being 16 working at grocery store, and seeing man pay with food stamps was infuriating to me. I'd ask myself why can't these people work. One day during dinner conversation I made a joke about it, and I was expecting my father to laugh and agree with me. But he did not he looked at me and slightly frowned. A religious man, very religious was my father.

I asked aren't we supposed to work for what we have. He said yes to me, but then he added what if we're not given the opportunities to work for what we have. I had never thought of that, I was 16 and perhaps a complete idiot at the time. He said what do your mother and I do after church every Sunday.

They would go with the people from the church and feed people near downtown Dallas. They were feeding the homeless and the needy.

And as our conversation was coming to an end. My father said to me remember last year when you had your Appendix and Gall Bladder removed.

Of course I did I was the one who had the surgery. I laughed.

My father said I work for what we have, but I could not afford the cost of your procedure. My father was illegal at the time, with luck and determination a citizen now. My father always paid his taxes even while being illegal. The SS and Medicare signed of on paying my surgery because my dad paid his taxes. He said in his broken English, I help the government a little bit and they keep you here with me.

The teachings of a father who sacrificed very much to give his family a good life. That is why I will always be a Liberal.

Liberals, on the other hand, are afraid that someone, somewhere, isn't getting what they need.

<Roger Waters>

All alone, or in twos,
The ones who really love you
Walk up and down outside the wall.
Some hand in hand
And some gathered together in bands.
The bleeding hearts and artists
Make their stand.
And when they've given you their all
Some stagger and fall, after all it's not easy
Banging your heart against some mad bugger's wall.

21. may i please add this- i believe that all parents do the best they can.

many fail. but they dont need finger wagging, they need a hand up. they especially need someone to take the hand of their child. and to watch out for them, until things get better.

the next person who detours a debate about schools with my by starting to wag their finger and start in with- but the paaaarents is gonna have a new use for that finger.
i have never known a parent, from "crack whores" to rich people in crisis, that was not doing whatever they found that was best for their child.
from adoption to a high priced nanny.
everyone give the best they have to their kids.
and people on every level fail. they get sick. they die. they divorce. they get addicted.
and their children all need the same thing.

so, yeah, seeing these kids does not take a bubble test. and does not require a phd.
take a child by the hand. you dont have to give 2 shits about the parent.

I don't begrudge people who get stuff (especially food) that they didn't work for - because those who aren't given the opportunity to work for what they obtain - those folks are deprived of the joy of seeing the work of their hands.

When I have some rewarding job - where I can sit back and look at what I've done - whether it's construct a building or design a spreadsheet - that's a happy time.

It's a waste of good vibes to deny someone basic necessities when some folks have so much. Myself, personally - I'd rather have the opportunity to work. I was taught at a very young age that you don't appreciate what you have as much if you don't work for it. I've found that to be true (lottery winners and extreme makeover home improvement families provide additional proof).

Sure, there are folks who abuse the system - but they are being deprived of the opportunity to contribute to the betterment of the world. Not allowing them to contribute in some way is a much greater injustice than anything that anyone gets without earning it.

I've been extremely lucky, it seems unfair to beat up on those who have not had my good fortune. That's how I look at it.

because when I try to make a dignified argument with teabaggers about people with children (disabled or not, that need food) or sick family members that need our help, it come off as if I have something strange or wrong going on with me. I keep forgetting that I'm a bleeding heart Liberal and baggers don't understand at all what I'm talking about.
