So tea-publican terrorists carried out a suicide attack in Las Vegas.

Will the teaparty be declared a terrorist organization? Will all of those providing "material support" be subject to the Patriot Act?

Fuck No. This is the second tea-publican attack on the government in a week, and these attacks follow on the heels of the announced but failed "American Spring" armed uprising and the actual armed uprising in BundyLand.

Why are we coddling terrorists?

Mon Jun 9, 2014, 08:02 PM
Jun 2014
http://www.gadsden.info/Culpeper.html

The Gadsden flag and other rattlesnake flags were widely used during the American Revolution. There was no standard American flag at the time, not even Betsy Ross's stars and stripes.

People were free to choose their own banners.

The Minutemen of Culpeper County, Virginia, chose a flag that looks generally like the Gadsden flag, but also includes the famous words of the man who organized the Virginia militia, Patrick Henry: "Liberty or Death."

By the way, there's a fair amount of confusion about the spelling of Culpeper. You often see it spelled Culpepper, with three p's. These are both, legitimate alternate spellings of an English surname. But the flag should definitely be spelled Culpeper, since that's the official spelling of Culpeper, Virginia.

Right Wing Freaks Out With DOJ Announcement to Crackdown on Domestic Terrorists (June 4

snip//

"After letting a special unit devoted to monitoring domestic terrorism fall dormant following the Al Qaeda attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced this week that it was reviving the group. The Domestic Terrorism Executive Committee will focus on extremists motivated by antigovernment and racial hatred, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said in a statement Tuesday.

Predictably, pundits from the extreme conspiracist right, particularly antigovernment “Patriot” groups, worked themselves into a frenzy over the announcement, warning their followers that a “war on the white man” was about to come down from the Obama administration. A similar reaction greeted the 2009 leak of a report from the Department of Homeland Security that focused on the domestic radical right, with right-wing groups describing it as an attack on the political conservatives."

All cats are mammals.
Therefore, all mammals are felines.

Look, I know it feels good to vent one's spleen at the Tea Party, but if the term "terrorist" is to have any real meaning we can't just use it as a pejorative to insult our opponents.

you are absolutely correct.

There is a wider issue concerning those with whom they had an association, those with whom they share anti-American ideologies that include insurrection and the critical feature of terrorist guerrilla warfare. Those are issues that concern all of us and are also the most mixed and confused. There is danger in confusing actual acts of violence and concern for actual threats of violence which can evolve into undeserved responses toward people or groups even if they are misguided or guilty by promotion of violent hate.

I think none of the opinions expressed in these comment have expanded to the point of irrational response necessarily. But the increasing threat and bravado of people who share similar anti-government sentiments to the suicide murderers even if they would not/could not act upon it, increases the likelihood that extremists who would commit such atrocities may gain a level of mania where they would act.

There are too many outward threats being thrown about and they must be taken seriously. But it's too human even if mistaken to broad brush. People including myself are becoming very concerned and aware of a nature in this country that is dangerous and based on ignorance. If there is anything to fear it's ignorance.

When a Muslim person kills people because of political ideology, they're branded a terrorist.

When white members of the tea party (redundant I know) kill two officers and an innocent bystander because of political ideology, we can't brand them terrorists and we need to stop overusing the term?

Until either the patriot act is repealed or it is applied with an even hand, I will demand that white rightwing nutjobs get the same treatment handed out to other people and groups.

We had an armed insurrection at BundyLand. WTF happened to those people? Oh right nothing, and now two of them just killed three people in Vegas.

is loaded with Right Wing garbage. There is no ambiguity this time about the shooter's politics.

What's weird is at least one of his friends that is pictured with him doesn't even acknowledge on his FaceBook page that his buddy is dead:

Just continued with his knife themes postings as if nothing happened.

Edit: Never mind that's not his Facebook friend. Linked removed to protect the innocent.

they are. Why? I don't know. I agree something needs to be done though. They are domestic terrorists committing acts of domestic terrorism. It is long past time to start disciplining them before they reach the point where they do these things. Usually, these types and the militia types have multiple charges and convictions on their records. Why they don't find a way to stop them before they go on a rampage, I still don't know. It makes no sense.

Remember, Clinton was president when they called McVeigh the domestic terrorist he was in MSM. Because of Waco, though, I think both the MSM and the government (which I think are pretty much in it together) avoid bringing up much about the fact that they are terrorists. It is not good for the country that they refuse to address the problem of domestic terrorism.

and semi-fascist in its orientation towards its citizens, so it has always looked upon the right-wing radicals sympathetically. This is why the Klan (which is so obviously a terrorist organization), militia groups, and neo-Nazi groups are allowed to exist while groups allied with the Left have been infiltrated, disrupted and in many cases, murdered in cold blood.

These crazy people are itching for a war (they hoped the Bundy incident would provide an opportunity), and the US government better take them seriously and stop letting them do what the hell they want.
