Puckett decides not to take the bribe... I mean job, yeah, job... after all.

RICHMOND — Amid a firestorm of criticism regarding his resignation from the Virginia Senate, Democrat Phillip P. Puckett is withdrawing his name from consideration for a job with the state tobacco commission, according to two people with knowledge of the decision.

Puckett (D-Russell) formally resigned his seat Monday and was expected to be appointed deputy director of the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission at a meeting, possibly as soon as this week.

But after Democrats accused Puckett of selling out, he decided to remain with his job in banking, according to two people who were familiar with his decision. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss his decision.

It’s not clear whether the criticism fueled his decision. Puckett has not returned repeated messages seeking comment Sunday and Monday.

Asshole. Did he really think no one would notice?

According to the article the Republicans did before this back in 97'. Bribed a Democrat with a job to gain control of the Senate.

He'll quietly slip into his new position in a week or so, when nobody's watching anymore.

Thanks a lot, Mr. Puckett. The people of the State of Virginia thank you so very much for your service on their behalf. By the way, would you mind terribly if we piled on your front doorstep the bodies of the people who start dying in the next few months because they didn't have access to health care thanks to you? You fucking blood-gargling psychopath.

We can influence things with public pressure when we have information. I got an email off and I know others did also. He won and the t-folk won and we can stay on this -- especially the judgeship thing. We need to keep the focus on both the father and the daughter and render them useless. He must never be allowed to run for public office again and she must be prevented from attempting to run on any ticket. Thanks for the vent! Yikes.

That wasn't a big bribe in the first place to get him to resign, and now….
