Question for DU, when are we going to start calling the tea party terrorist

Just herd on Tom Heartman, 34 of the shootings this year were done by white men and women, 34.

Of the recent shootings the http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/06/08/1305400/-Shooting-in-Las-Vegas-leaves-five-dead-including-two-police-officers#

There had been reports that the couple had attended the Clive Bundy protest.

- See more at: http://omidsafi.religionnews.com/2014/04/14/shootings-kansas-jewish-community-centers-case-domestic-terrorism/#sthash.1nrPtbBA.dpuf As the news of the tragic shooting in the Jewish Community Center in Kansas City and Village Shalom, a Jewish retirement community, broke across the nation, here are a few thoughts and prayers that I wanted to share:

1) Silence, Grief, and prayers.

2) This is about all of us.

3) The shooter is not “mad”, “crazy”, “deranged”. This is a case of Domestic Terrorism.

Let us resist every attempt to soften the savagery of this attack by calling it the work of a single, isolated, lone madman. Yes, there are facts that still need to be collected, but there is a trail of evidence that’s hard to ignore.

This is not the work of one solitary crazed man. The SPLC has tracked 939 extremist KKK, white-supremacist, and other hate-groups. We have a lot of work to do.

Yet what makes me angry at progressive radio and tv, we're afraid to call this what it is, Domestic Terrorism.

Armed Militia At Bundy Ranch

Flag-waving Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy refuses to pay cattle-grazing fees like other ranchers do, or even get a grazing permit, because he "doesn't recognize the federal government." The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), following years of federal court rulings, finally starts removing Bundy's cattle from public land. The state's Republican governor and Republican senator accuse the government of "intimidation" for enforcing the court's rulings.

Think Progress has a good take on what happened next:

Egged on by media figures like Fox News' Sean Hannity and Tea Party groups like the Koch-funded Americans for Prosperity, Bundy quickly became a conservative celebrity -- including among right-wing fringe groups. By Wednesday, right-wing militia members began to arrive in Nevada to "provide armed response" to federal officials seeking to enforce the court order.

So my question is this, how much longer are we going to keep making excuses for these extremist right wing tea party people who are going around killing our government officials? I'm really getting discouraged.

Equating all of the Tea Party activists with the few who have committed violence applies too broad a brush, in my opinion.

It's very similar to how the actions of a few saboteurs were held up as evidence that the environmentalists are "ecoterrorists."

I'm all in favor of calling the actual incidents themselves acts of domestic terrorism - ambushing law enforcement officers for political reasons certainly fits the bill. But we need to be careful with damning the entire Tea Party movement with guilt by association.

The t-folk are terrorists. There. Done. The t-folk are terrorists. It started with the town hall disruptions in 2007 and 2008. The money folk provoked a lot of terrorism in town hall meetings then.

If the term is to mean anything at all, it needs to stop being used as a pejorative for people we don't like.

I think it is terrorism when no one can talk or agree or disagree, when people are rushed and shoved, when the prized freedom of speech is denied if you are not on the correct side. A different kind of terrorism, and certainly not civilized. Perhaps there is another word.

Tea Party are terrorists, but almost all domestic terrorists are aligned with the goals and "values" of the extremist right-wing Tea Party, especially the part about overthrowing the government through violence and force.

...for their insane 'GUNS GUNS and more GUNS mantra. When these terrorist attacks happen, just remember that after Sandy Hook the outrage had 90 percent of clear thinking Americans demanding some sort of curb on these weapons and the lunatics that use them willy-nilly. What happened? not one goddamned thing. That's MY fault, and it's YOUR fault too. When we fail to demand that the lobbyists NRA and other ...ever more fringe groups hold The American Public hostages, we are the ones to blame because we ALLOW IT TO HAPPEN. End of rant, but I'm still plenty pissed off.
