gun"? How would you know?

I'm sorry I feel the way I do about this, but my immediate response would be to regard ALL these goons as bad guys with guns! VERY bad guys. The so-called "bad guy with a gun" has some selectivity about him (or her) in targeting. THESE OTHER fuckers just want it EVERYWHERE. And it does NOT promote a "safer" environment!!! I don't understand what they're thinking!!!!! If I felt even halfway confident that these were rational fellow human beings and not complete damn-near-unhinged conspiracy-nut out-to-lunch paranoiacs, I suppose it wouldn't bother me or terrify me as much. All I know is that these assholes seem only to be itching for a gunfight. Why else would they be so adamant about parading their big-ass guns and assault weapons in public, in restaurants and department stores and toy aisles? (TOY AISLES!!!!!!!!) They're nothing but provocateurs just yearning to have to "prove something." That's ALL they are. They are domestic terrorists and menaces to society. Just ITCHING for a fight. That's a recipe for instant and deadly trouble.

I DO NOT WANT TO LIVE IN AN ONGOING OK CORRAL SCENARIO!!!!!!! And that's exactly what the gun goons are turning it into. Besides, out here in California, we've got WAY too much road rage already. Just imagine how fabulously that'll go if everybody's packin' heat.

Anyone running around carrying a gun terrifies me---and that sounds like a terrorist to me. If I were in a store or restaurant, and someone came in carrying a weapon, the first thing that I would do is hide under the table or run for the door. I would see nothing but danger.

I'd immediately default to "Bad Guy With A Gun" and want to get the hell outta there. I would be in fear for MY LIFE.

I asked here awhile ago (and was frankly surprised to see no gun goons dispute or take issue with it - maybe they just didn't see it?) "don't I have rights, too?" What about MY rights? MY rights - to live in an environment where people aren't terrorizing and menacing me by parading around in the open, literally dripping with murder weapons? Massacre machines literally hanging off their shoulders and from around their necks, and across their chests and down their backs. What is this country now - an armed camp???? What about MY rights, and MY freedoms - to live UN-MENACED? To live peacefully where I'm not threatened by the presence of some pretend soldiers-of-fortune and wannabe Rambos in phony camouflage clothing shoving their damn guns in my face all the time - to prove some stupid-ass "point"?

There aren't armed gunfights happening on the streets. The guys open-carrying the AR-15 into Target aren't perpetuating an all-out shoot-em-up in the store.

I do NOT understand why so many people react with FEAR! of these people instead of just walking by, shaking their head and thinking to themselves "what a fucking idiot."

I don't open carry, but those who want to have an established right to do so. Those who are open carrying assault rifles, and not a gun in a holster, are doing so to get a reaction; and they have accomplished their goal, to elicit a response and draw attention to their "plight."

You are helping them.

Ignore them. Do not fear them. Move on with your own life. Quit worrying, in the most irrational illusion possible, that they are just going to unsling their gun and start shooting.

The statistical probability of being killed in a mass shooting is so minuscule as to be laughable.

Stop empowering them with your fear.

Just for a moment imagine YOUR reaction if a half dozen "LEGALLY ARMED MINORITY" young males walked into a store u were in with your young child - my guess? You'd first relieve your bladder in your pants then try and get your heart to start again. Please don't insult the intelligence of the DU community with your ' Stop empowering them with your fear." Nothing racist - trying to make a point. You make look like one of the Duck Dynasty fellas - good for u - but to many of us that don't a goober with a gun represents DANGER.

By the way - 6 years as an armorer in the USMC - my hands on observations are that even "professionals" with guns are dangerous.

But I don't fear firearms, or people who carry them. Whatever their appearance. If I had my child with me, I would fear them no more. I refuse to live in fear of a myth.

No one is going to gun me down in the supermarket - YES, it does happen. The likelihood it will happen to me is so small that I can't spend my life worrying about it. No one should. Go about your business. Shit happens. Quit trying to control the shit through an untenable effort to manipulate odds and factors that you have no control over.

I refuse to waste the effort. It baffles me why so many people do.
