The new "Duck and Cover"

A Company Has Designed A Bulletproof Blanket To Protect Kids During School Shootings

...He said that the blankets can be stored in the classrooms and children “can lock the door and put these on in a matter of seconds.”
The company says it is encouraging administrators to make the Bodyguard Blanket an integral part of school and university lockdown protocol.

This is just sad in so many meanings of the word: http://www.buzzfeed.com/tasneemnashrulla/a-company-has-designed-a-bulletproof-blanket-to-protect-kids

But, to answer your question, 1000 dollars could buy a very nice used AR15.

We used to hide under our desks in case of nuclear attacks.... Now the kids hide under bullet-proof blankets. In both cases, someone will make a lot of money off of perceived threats.

we are truly fucked.

Having to teach kids to hide from gunnutz while they should be free to get an education is the dumbest fucking thing.

No scratch that, I'm sure there will be other dumbest things. Like no background checks when a gun is purchased or stockpiling
of ammunition and assorted sundries.
