He “thought it was a beautiful day to go out to lunch,” spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters back at the White House today. The president was not out there to “seek attention,” Earnest said, but rather “a nice meal.” They specialize in salads and pizzas at FireFlies. And the beers are pretty good, too. Obama had a burger, our man on the scene reports.

There also is “no doubt,” Earnest says, that the president — who declared in his May 21 walk that “the bear is on the loose” — is looking for ways to break away from campus.
