This is the 74th school shooting in the United States since the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary

The details are still coming in, and it’s not uncommon for some preliminary information to be mistaken, but the latest information available to msnbc and NBC News is that at least one student was shot and killed at Reynolds High School in Troutdale, Oregon, this morning. The alleged gunman is also dead and others were injured.

4. I have hunted and owned guns for years but I would give em up in heartbeat .....

.... to stop this madness. I am numb with shock and pain right now.
I feel so sad and my heart is very heavy too.

And also as a parent I am livid @ the NRA and all these gun loving people
who talk about their 2nd amendment rights. What about all of our
1st Amendment rights? Such as the right to peacefully assemble like
dropping your kids off @ school, going to a movie, Xmas shopping,
eating a pizza, going to your job @ the Navy Yard, going to church,
or hanging out with your friends on a friday night in and around a
college?

Close to one school shooting every six days.

Unfortunately, the number is unsurprising coming from the most heavily armed (per capita, and absolute) nation on the planet... which seems to be a price the NRA is willing to pay as the lives do not come out of their wallets, and further, it gives LaPierre a good opportunity for more sound bites and commercial branding of his scared-cow.

6. My 2 daughters are in the same district middle school-due to transfer to Reynolds HS

And damn it is the last thing I expected. It is going to take a lot of processing to decide how I deal with it.

Just hope I can make it better but its a terrible day for the families & everyone.

And my oldest-who is due to transfer next semester-is already having a hard time in the middle school. And she has a new dress for a graduation that is already cancelled....

So sad-
America is sick & I can lay this right at the feet of the Republican party.

Please hug your daughters and their friends for me.

We had a high school shooting in the part of the state close to were my son was going to
high school 3 years ago and I remember my terror until they announced the name of the
school and it was not the one he was going to but my relieve meant that parents, students,
families, and friends @ another school were going through hell.

It is the guns ..... end of story.
