I've seen the Faux "News" hysteria. Now I'd like to try and get at the truth.

I was just blessed with another Fox News-related link on my Facebook wall. It's about how there are supposedly going to be well over 100 thousand children coming into America via the border with Mexico, who are actually from Central and South American countries.

There are supposedly some leaked photos of -- literally -- piles of children stuck at detention centers, and of course since it's Fox, the entire blame for the whole damn situation is being laid squarely at Obama's feet.

As much as I hate to link to a right-wing news article, here it is:

http://foxnewsinsider.com/2014/06/09/judge-nap-obama-directly-caused-surge-illegal-immigrant-children-borders

I want to know what this article and the accompanying video are failing to tell us. I want to know what elements of this alleged disaster might be covered in Republican fingerprints.

TexasTowelie posted a thread related to this issue about a week ago, which received minimal attention before disappearing:

My site searches could not come up with anything else.

Who's up for furthering the discussion on this issue, and helping deconstruct it so that we may determine just how much of the blame Obama really gets? What details are being distorted to the point of unrecognition? What parts are fairly true?

I'm hoping to get a good education here, which I can hopefully pass on to my Facebook friend. She's actually fairly liberal, but she's not one to spend a lot of time at sites like DU, or those of the other side. Thanks!!

of his children?

Wouldn't that be awesome if we could save and nurture 100,000 of God's children!

Wow, where do I donate a few bucks to help them?

Or, who want children but who don't want to further overextend the planet's carrying capacity.

Would adopting them all out really be that difficult?

In this country. The relatives may be undocumented, but they are relatives.

The major problem is that the conditions in their home countries are horrendous and dangerous. Neither the adults or the children can safely return.

If what I have heard is true, this is a mass refuge situation. We cannot send these families back to places where they could be killed. The US accepted the Mariel boat lift refuges, even after it was obvious some of those people were felons. Thousands of Cubans were taken in after Castro took over Cuba.

In those cases, the numbers of sudden arrivals overwhelmed the systems available to deal with refuges or undocumented people. The Mariel refuges were housed in prisons and camps all over South Florida before they could be processed. That most of this wave are children makes it much harder.

I don't think any administration could respond fast enough to handle the influx of massive numbers of people.

This is some perspective I was hoping to find.

This doesn't make the news any easier to digest, but what you've stated made a lot more sense than just casting a huge blanket of blame over Obama "because we're Faux and we can!!"
