Oh Boy- Bat Shit crazy just got dumped for Bat Shit Crazier......

I'm happy to see Eric Cantor gone but that congressional district is pretty much gerrymandered to safe GOP. And you know in 2015 the Tea Party idiots are going to fight hard to put one of their own in for that Majority Leader positon.

2. To be fair I do not see much difference between Eric Cantor and the Tea Party crazies

It's just the Tea Party Crazies see Cantor as part of the establishment he had to go.

And I will concede nothing this year. If the national party throws some money at getting out the vote, the Democrats could shock the world. Or at least Karl Rove.

6. No but Cantor's loss to a Tea Party person will give more power to the Tea Party

Do you think the Tea Party is going to sit around and do nothing when the GOP picks their replacement for Cantor's old seat. Clearly the guy who won the primary won't b the choice but there are others who have been around since 2010 that will think they are due the seat.

Tea Party will make a huge play for power in the party

Also, considering Cantor's record as Majority Leader, I'm not sure I see much of a quantitative difference no matter who is leading the Republican caucus. Which is to say the Republicans will be hard-pressed to ratchet up the obstructionist tactics. Another Congress of nothing but "repeal Obamacare" votes? Who's going to notice the difference?

Color me unconcerned about Tea Bagger prospects.

We can support Mike Dickinson and get a new House seat. Beyond that, it really isn't all that surprising that Cantor got the boot. He's just not a likeable person. I'm not even sure he's human, to be honest. He's like a sneering Mitt Romney.

15. One to me anyhow, very interesting fact about this race, according to a link in another thread
Wed Jun 11, 2014, 12:44 AM

was the MONEY TALKS issue that Republicans are so fond of. Apparently in this race it didn't talk at all.

According to that link, Cantor had over $5 million while Brat had only about $250,000. That's quite a feat, to beat all that money not to mention how powerful Cantor is in the Republican Party.

That gives ME hope that while we are told so often that a real Progressive Dem can't win against 'all that money', it appears it can be done, if thoses figures are correct.

Eg, just the other day people here were talking about Diane Feinstein and wondering HOW she keeps winning elections. According to some people, she wins because she has MONEY. Well, with this news, perhaps it's time to start challenging all these corporate funded candidates even WITHOUT much money.

I was surprised to see that to be honest. And I wondered if Brat USED Cantor's money AGAINST him in the campaign. I will have to check. That would be fantastic and definitely something Dems need to do, to make that kind of money in campaigns POISON for a candidate.

We can't get Campaign Finance reform, obviously. But we CAN be creative and go about removing it in other ways. Make it a huge issue, how much an opponent is receiving from Corporate interests and then slam with it. In every debate ask them how they intend to represent the people when they owe so much to Corporate Interests.

Fascinating out come, a definite upset to say the least.

(I don't know if it's true or not) that Cantor got beat because Democrats crossed over and voted in the Republican primary. As many of you know, we aren't registered by party in Virginia and can vote in any one primary.

17. I heard that also. But it would have taken an awful lot of Dems to beat the numbers

Cantor was projected to win by. Are there that many Dems who would do this?

but I wouldn't be surprised. That district has been gerrymandered to skew it to Republicans and more and more Democrats are pissed off about that.

I am going to roll with this helping us later on this year. Tea idiots just seem to say the dumbest fucking shit, right at the worst possible time - when running or walking or reading a fucking children's book on the clock. I am banking on that destroying their hold of the House.

Maybe the Koch Kings had something to do with it too. They seem to be as stupid as this fringe group that follows them around like brain dead zombies (no offense to DU zombies).

if the idiot somehow becomes majority leader. We've seen was a Cruz missile can do to the state of the union = cost billions of dollars and furlough government workers. One suck missile is enough.

We can only hope this all backfires and the two factions eat each other.

And as someone pointed out to me, Cantor will be on K-street earning a paycheck he is not qualified for. Be some shit if he had to go stand in the unemployment line!

As someone that has survived twice on government assistance, that put a smile of my face. His smug mug in the unemployment office. Not qualified to pick up pigeon poop in the park.
