Cantor was running against his Republican opponenent, and every single Democrat voter in his district who was aware enough to vote against him in the primary.

I started to eritexthat he was runnng against every single Democrat in the district, then realized they eould not all be voting. I don't really understant why using the term Democrat is offensive. I'm a Democrat.

However, when used as an adjective, not only is it grammatically incorrect, but it mimics Limbaugh, et al.'s juvenile attempt to insult the Democratic Party by calling it the "Democrat Party"--so they can emphasize the "rat" syllable. Yes, they are that juvenile. Unfortunately, use of that term for our party is so prevalent on right wing radio and Fox and right wing members of Congress that many people think that is our party's name.

She spent $140 million of her own money and $170 total to lose to Jerry Brown who, not only was not very popular, but who spent pennies when compared to her.

Rachel Madfow showed a clip of his ads. Utterly unispiring. I think Cantor put his supporters to sleep. That's why only Brat 's showed up.

When you register to vote in Virginia, you do not register a party. In primaries, you can vote for whomever you like (Democrat, Republican, Green, etc.) but you can only vote once. That turn out was much higher than expected (and the Democratic candidate was running unopposed) suggests that many Democrats may have voted for Brat to screw Cantor. Also, that the more moderate areas of the highly gerrymandered 7th district voted overwhelmingly for Brat suggests cross over votes.

Those Democratic cross over votes will not be voting for Brat in November.

When you have right wing radio on your side 24/7 in a Republican primary you are in the drivers seat. The people who listen to that crap talk to everyone they know. Most importantly, talk radio knows how to drum up rage and angry people vote!
