Fox News Has Finally Yelled Fire in a Crowded Theater
by Thom Hartmann | June 10, 2014 - 9:12am

There were two terrorist attacks in America over the weekend, but don't expect the mainstream media to call them that.

On Friday, 48-year-old Georgia resident Dennis Marx was scheduled to appear at the Forsyth County Courthouse in Cumming, Georgia, to face charges on 11 different felony counts.

~snip~

Meanwhile, yesterday in Las Vegas, an armed couple screaming about "revolution" opened fire and killed two Las Vegas policemen inside of a local pizza joint.

~snip~

It's time for the media to start calling attacks like those in Las Vegas, Cumming, Georgia, and Kansas City what they are: right-wing-extremist-fueled terrorist attacks.

is right in front of us. The reason that we are experiencing so many mass shootings is the rise of hate radio and faux news. That is where these people are indoctrinated. That is who is creating these monsters. The 24 hour hate radio cycle courtesy of the extreme right that has for 20 years delivered non stop hate speech to millions of potential murderers. This is what the fairness doctrine was supposed to be for. To provide a balance. We know the forces of evil are well funded. And we know that propaganda works. We know what it is. We know it is a tool of the fascist corporate model. Yet we do nothing to counter its non stop attack on our nation our liberty and our national interests. We do nothing to counter the poisoning of our food supply with high fructose corn syrup and MSG. we dont care that our FDA is corrupt.
We must win back our government and demand they act in our interests.

32. Stochastic terrorism.
Wed Jun 11, 2014, 09:55 AM
Jun 2014
Stochastic terrorism is the use of mass communications to incite random actors to carry out violent or terrorist acts that are statistically predictable but individually unpredictable. In short, remote-control murder by lone wolf.

This is what occurs when Bin Laden releases a video that stirs random extremists halfway around the globe to commit a bombing or shooting.

This is also the term for what Beck, O'Reilly, Hannity, and others do. And this is what led directly and predictably to a number of cases of ideologically-motivated murder similar to the Tucson shootings. As of this writing, there is no evidence to link Jared Loughner to a specific source of incitement; but some of the other cases can be clearly linked.

The stochastic terrorist is the person who is responsible for the incitement. For example they go on radio or television and stir up hatred toward a particular person or group.

The random actor, or "lone wolf" as the term is used in law enforcement and intel, is the person who responds to the incitement by carrying out the violent or terrorist act against the target person or group. For example they shoot someone or detonate a bomb. While their action may have been statistically predictable (e.g. "given sufficient provocation, someone will probably do such-and-such&quot , the specific person and the specific act are not yet predictable.

I shall put that word into my lexicon. The reason for our violent society is obvious. Its got nothing to do with video games, nothing to do with internet access. The way to heal this disease is simply to ban assault weapons, most handguns, clips, and to re-instate the fairness doctrine. Its that simple. Lets work toward those goals.

It's also true of the sexualized contempt/violence towards all things feminine that is so taken for granted.

But that's another discussion. I bring it up because many who have clearly seen the connection between Fux/ RW hate media and the rise of aggressive actions against all things Liberal, still actually deny the same phenomenon affecting women.

Anyway, to get back to your point....yes, it's hard being the ones who've KNOWN for decades already, that hate media is a threat. Really really frustrating being able to see something clearly that so many others are blind to.

agitation is a well-known side-effect of ssris. and I believe that the rate of suicidal ideation is also underreported, as no one wants to end up in an inpatient facility.

I think it's really unfair to demonize the mentally ill tho, as there's enough stigma already. in fact, I think the problem is the stigma itself... if people weren't ashamed of doing so, they would be much more willing to seek help when going thru a rough patch.

I could never get into their heads, but their understanding of government always ended up with them shooting themselves in the foot. ABC, CBS and NBC each have more than double the viewership of FNC. Righties will call you a liar. They will call Neilsen a liar. But facts are facts.

And even then they are talking about the FNC evening talk shows, not the news shows. People who watch for the talk shows often turn to CNN for the actual news.

When a really big news story is going on, like Hurricane Katrina, FNC's ratings will actually dip below CNN for a few days.

People turn into FNC for the shouting and entertainment.

has to do with age. My grandmother (who died last year just a few weeks before her 97th birthday) watched Fox. My stepfather, an old school Republican who hates the tea party, watches some Fox. He's in his 80's. These people have long since gotten used to getting their news from television and newspapers. They're not so good with the internet. They have no idea how to text or what a hashtag is.

I'm in my 50's and I'm on the internet every day, I stream everything I watch, taught my mom to text. People younger than me? Would probably be watching MSNBC if they cared about tv. Faux has more viewers because their viewers are mostly older and not learning to make the transition to the newer media forms.

Just a thought. Could be wrong about the whole thing. But I hope not, because if I'm right it means their days are numbered.

Well, the big gun study that came out has shown that places where there is lesser gun regulation, there is higher gun violence. You are correct in calling it what it is, terrorism. Being in a public place, quietly going about your business, and having TERROR inflicted on you by some other group or other person is, in my view, terrorism. It doesn't have to be car bombs to be terrorist. I mean, when there was an attack on westerners in Saudi Arabia by gun fire, the mainstream media was quick to call it terrorism, no hesitation.

The fascist media outlet of the now fascist, terrorist organization known as the GOP wants you to be reprogrammed to ignore the definition of "terrorism"' which is gender and color blind, it means only the mixture of violence and political intent.

Both the terrorist acts committed in America this week are going to be ignored as 100% terrorist acts clearly meeting the definition because in America the definition now needs the act to include a brown or
Muslim person. Or, if you are Fox, scary sounding foreign words, which are actually translated as "May peace be with you".

Remember Major Nadal? What did all America immediately call that? Or the Boston Bombers?

I have tried - unsuccessfully to understand how it is possible to have the idea that anyone should have as much weapon as human possible - or at least as much as you are able to buy on your budged - and then also to listen to hate-media like fox news and its like to be indoctrinate in a way I doubt anyone even in the old Soviet or nazi-germany would have made possible - and specially Dr Gobbles was a smart man who understood propaganda - and the need to get people on his side when it came to propaganda...

In my country of birth - and where I still live - you would have had marshall law if anything like this had happened on a regular basis - with all the problems it would have given everyone who wanted to travel around the country - and I am still confused why not the US government - and local authorities are doing anything to curb it... It must be enough laws on the books, to stop this insanity for happened - both at local - state level and at Federal level - is it more the WILL who is not there?

And yes - it is definitely Terrorism in all its gruesome detail - but then again I'm not living in the US - and do not used to be afraid of been shot by a stranger, who for some reason do not like police - or federal authorities... When I think about it - I'm extremely lucky to live in a country where most people do not have weapon - and have no real use for it.. And the ones who does - are sensible enough to use it only to hunt animals - not humans... Hey even our Police have no weapons as part of the uniform - even though it does have weapons in the police cruiser - but have strict control of when to use it.. And seldom use it - becouse the criminals sedom use weapons against police - it is kind of a un-written contract between thiefes and police - if you do not shoot at us - we wil not shoot at you... It sounds wierd - but it works...

thom's in that business and tho he recognizes talk radio more than he used to he doesn't listen to it, doesn't have time like most.

fox is a decoy. it needs the talk radio monopoly to do the unchallenged repetition needed to sell the big lies. talk radio reaches 50 mil a week with think tank coordinated lying. in most parts of the US there are no free alternatives for politics while driving or working. they can coordinate on a local level in a way that can't be done with local fox TV. it's harder to lie on TV. the fox liars and the GOP political liars know when they lie the same BS has already been pumped out of 1200 radio stations. that's what makes it easy for the lies and ignorance.

it's ridiculous media and political analysts and pollsters keep ignoring rw radio. latest transcription software and recording software make it possible to record all hate/lie radio and transcribe it to a reasonable searchable form so it doesn't have to be listened to. meanwhile talk radio takes out cantor- he was too establishment/moderate for the talk radio gods.
