Creationist asks ‘hard question’: ‘If evolution is true, is rape wrong?’

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/06/11/creationist-asks-hard-question-if-evolution-is-true-is-rape-wrong/

Creationist Darek Isaacs said during an online broadcast posted Monday that evolutionary theory excused rape....

“You have to start asking questions: Well, if evolution is true, and it’s just all about the male propagating their DNA, we had to ask hard questions, like, well, is rape wrong?” Isaacs said, as one of his hosts gasps....

He said marriage would be “anathema” in an evolutionary worldview because it would limit sexual relations to one man and one woman for life.

“According to the evolutionary worldview, (if) that male is strong enough and he had wonderful genes, he should propagate his DNA as much as possible so that the species can progress,” Isaacs said. “So it redefines everything about our society.”

Maybe they have a glimmering that they are losing this useless fight? Just as they lost the marriage equality fight?

Since the evidence supports humanity's propensity to kill each other for women and treasure.

humans are a part of nature. sure, we have vastly more ability to affect the course of evolution than other species do, but still, everything we do is part of nature.

in any event, i don't see the "artificiality" of the selection as one of the real problems with this idiot's position.

The case can be made that most human evolution over the last several thousand years has been as societies rather than individuals.

This is sort of arguing that if evolution is real than we should all go back to cave man morality - in other words devolve societally.

times in the Old Testament as the Israelites wiped out other tribes. It is also sanctioned as a method of getting a spouse. At best it is a property crime against the father. If you are raped in the city by a fellow Israelite you are subject to the same punishment as your rapist (death). The only "righteous" man in Sodom offered up his two daughters for gang rape.

society developed social rules around breeding in large part to try to limit the kind of violence among potential suitors that this idiot is advocating. that violence is highly damaging to the survival of the species.

besides, evolution doesn't say anything is right or wrong, it's just a scientific explanation of what happens and how.

all this is entirely aside from other problems with his statement, starting with the obvious problem of his horrendous disregard for the treatment of women!

They cannot fathom "what is the right thing" without it being something in the Bible. (And not just what Jesus would do, because we all know that conservatives don't give a flip about Jesus.) They cannot understand that the intricate instincts in nature might not always be good for the society. They also confuse propagation instinct with the misogynistic power struggle of the perp in rape.
