Why would any fighting Dem let TeaPartyTerrorists get away with coopting our nation's history?

Last edited Wed Jun 11, 2014, 05:31 PM - Edit history (2)

I am reposting this from Sept/2009, when corporate media was first handing over the Gadsden on a silver platter to the anti-Obama Tea Party crowd

Newer members of DU won't remember, but, at one time, DU was Gadsden Flag Central for those flying it for its true meaning of anti-imperialism - that ours would be a nation that did not seek empire and would never strike first (as Bush did in Iraq). The Gadsden was fashioned by those patriots who were fighting FOR the freedom to establish their own citizen government - a republic that would rely on democracy as its functioning mechanism. The TeaParty is AGAINST this citizen government and has been working in tandem with the corporate elites looking to establish rule by THEIR empires - their corporate empires.

It's the flag of anti-IMPERIALISTS. No wars for empire. NO KING GEORGE.

The TeaBaggers are incapable of understanding the Gadsden because their political strategist handlers have distorted its meaning for some time now.

This has been posted here at DU for years to protest KING GEORGE and his imperialistic crusade invading nations that didn't attack us, and now his royalist GOP following who are masquerading as TeaBaggers.

"...our skin is EVERY color and our faith is EVERY creed..."

The Gadsden Flag

In some old dusty attic
Undisturbed for many years
There lies a tattered banner
That is stained with blood and tears
By men who knew that freedom
Must be fought for by the free
And died to save a ragged flag
That said Don't Tread on Me

Don't Tread on Me
I'm a rattlesnake with
Diamonds down my back
When other men retreat
That's just the time that I attack
Because a dream that's worth defending
Is a dream that's bound to be
A ragged flag that said
Don't Tread on Me

Two hundred years of glory
And the glory's just begun
We may have lost some battles
But these colors never run
We drew the line at Valley Forge
We held at Bunker Hill
The cannon smoke is lifting
I can see that banner still

Don't Tread on me
I'm a mountain lion
And courage is my name
I tamed a wild country
But I'm wild just the same
And from that rocky Boston harbor
To the California Sea
A ragged flag that said
Don't Tread on Me

This nation isn't what we've done
It's what we've got to do
Remember that United States
Can only start with you
We better be recalling
What this country's all about
And rally round that ragged flag
And hear the people shout
Don't Tread on Me
I'm a grizzly bear
That's not afraid to bite
I don't look for trouble
But when trouble comes I fight
Because my daddy taught me freedom
Has no lifetime guarantee
A ragged flag that said
Don't Tread on Me

The winds of change are blowing
And they're sure to shake this land
We stood all we can take
And now it's time to take a stand
Let's tell the men who make the laws
In Washington D.C.
Unfurl again
That ragged flag that said
Don't Tread on Me

Don't Tread on me
I'm an eagle
Who is clawing at the sky
I want that banner waving up
Where eagles dare to fly
And blazing in the sunlight
So that friend and foe can see
A ragged flag that said
Don't Tread on Me

Don't Tread on us
We're Americans
And we were born to lead
Our skin is every color
And our faith is every creed
We are 300 million people
But on one thing we agree
A ragged flag that said
Don't Tread on Me

DON'T LET THE RW LIE MACHINE DISTORT THE GADSDEN'S TRUE MEANING OF ANTI-IMPERIALISM - the US of the Gadsden Flag would never be a nation that attacked first, but, would strike BACK with precision, not the widespread, sloppy wars of King George Bush.

They let the media get away with handing over the Stars and Stripes to the GOP/TeaParty.

The Constitution to the GOP/TeaParty.

Family Values to the GOP/TeaParty.

The Gadsden Flag to the GOP/TeaParty.

10. When THEY lie and distort OUR history, WE should not abet them in their blasphemy.

This nation and its history should NOT be a plaything for fascist propagandists.

predicting the outcome of Presidential Elections in 2000.

http://abcnews.go.com/International/story?id=82279&

When it comes to picking the winner in the American presidential race, Britain’s leading chroniclers of royal ancestors say they’ve never been wrong — not once in almost 200 years.

Based on facts gleaned from the old scrolls and dusty archives of Burke’s Peerage — researchers of royal bloodlines since 1826 — the Brits wager it will be Texas Gov. George W. Bush.

They say Bush’s blue blood runs thicker than Vice President Al Gore’s. In fact it trumps the royal ties of every other president to date, including his father’s. It seems George W. has inherited his mother’s deep blue blood-line.

(snip)

Gore’s family members weren’t exactly peasants. The vice president’s family tree includes Charlemagne and three Holy Roman emperors.

Whereas the free press during the Revolution was speaking out against being ruled by kings, today's corporate media promotes it.

Obviously, I'm not of the mind that someone should be eliminated from Presidential consideration because their family tree has royal blood, but to me that kind of promotion smelled of subliminal propaganda, conditioning the American People for the autocratic rule that was to follow with Bush the Least.

Now that Obama is President, the same corporate media has no problem tying the the Gadsen Flag of Liberty to the Tea Party, because they're in most direct opposition to a President that probably doesn't have "royal blood" in the family tree.

Thanks for the thread, blm.

8. When WE were flying it the corporate media ignored us and our message - "Fuck You, King George!"

For 8 years the corporate media ignored that there were many of us flying that flag then.

9. Exactly, because it ran against the corporate media subliminal propaganda meme of the day.

Royalty was good, because they wanted the American People to be prepared to give up freedom, privacy and democracy for the "security" that only a strong "king" or ruler could bring.

Which of course ran against Benjamin Franklin's maxim.

They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
