I just received mine in the mail. What really stood out was the lack of questions related to the following:
Gun violence
Wall Street corruption
Fast Tracking of the Trans Pacific Partnership.
The XL Pipeline.
The environmental damage of wide spread fracking.
Investigations of the overreaches of the NSA/CIA organization.
Repealing the Patriot Act.
Investing in infrastructure and not military buildups.
I responded mentioning how I feel about the above and stated that I will support Democratic candidates but not thru the DNC.

The issues you cited are the issues. They are the central issues of our lives now. Leaving them out is a glaring admission that you plan to do whatever the hell you and your corporate masters want, and that your claims to represent us are baldfaced lies.
Thank you for showing us what you really are, corporate Democrats.

(32,139 posts)The deliberate perversion for the public of the meaning and purpose of elections.
People who seek elected office, and the party machine behind them, know that it's all about power. They know what the important issues of the day are. They know that elections are supposed to be about seeking the will of the people, and competing to see who can best represent their interests. Yet we are fed this garbage telling us constantly that the issues don't matter and diverting us to this fluff and pablum and meaningless emotional fervor masquerading as political interest... so that the machine can work on what it wants to work on without being bothered by us. It is replacing the foundations of our representative system...our basic civics education....with sports team mentality and vapid loyalty to "Leaders" rather than participatory civics and demands of accountability from representatives.
It is a sickness and a manipulation that, taken to its extreme, becomes someplace like North Korea. It truly makes me viscerally sick to see that it has come so far here that what purports to be THE OFFICIAL DEMOCRATIC PARTY SURVEY TO GAUGE VOTERS' VIEWS ON IMPORTANT ISSUES does not even include the most important issues. I am so glad you posted about this. I think this thread should have hundreds of recs, because it speaks to the core sickness of what is being done to us.
I wonder how many complaints they will get about it. It makes me physically ill to think that there won't be many.

(11,481 posts)I think that most of the Dem leaders aren't just cowards, I think they actually WANT to keep the status quo intact. Keeping the status quo (divided government) intact means they don't have to DO anything about these issues, except blame Republicans for not doing anything.
It's all a game and we're the ones being played.

(55,981 posts)I was referring to some of the rank and file Democrats. Many can be seen here masquerading as "political liberals". They dont like to think for themselves and therefore seek a leader to blindly follow. They are willing to stick with the status quo as it sinks into the mire. I am grateful that our founders were not such cowards and I think we have an obligation to fight for the freedoms and liberties they fought so hard to establish.

that what pretends to be The Democratic Party survey of its voters on important issues of the day does not even include the major issues of the day?
This is an exceedingly creepy statement on what our political parties and our elections have been perverted into. This is more like what you would expect from North Korea than a representative republic.
We are now reaching a point in our politics where the parties don't even pretend to be battling based on the actual important agendas of the day. We the People are being propagandized into accepting a perversion of our elections in which we are to align through sheer emotion with one party or the other, and to fervently defend them based on nothing but the party affiliation.
It is sick.
It is creepy.
It is undemocratic.
And to see it reflected so blatantly in actual party materials like this is disturbing as hell.
