Indiana contacted Nevada about threats from the shooters earlier this year

I may be wrong, but isn't it a crime to threaten people? What's the point of reporting these types of things? A couple of talks with the lunatics and everything is gonna be just fine?

"LAS VEGAS - Las Vegas police say they talked on three different occasions earlier this year with a couple who killed two officers and a bystander, and the pair did not express anti-police views in any of the encounters.

Investigators believe the anti-police and anti-government attitudes of Jerad and Amanda Miller fueled Sunday's rampage in which they shot the officers at a Las Vegas eatery, then shot a shopper at a nearby Wal-Mart before they both died of gunshots.

Assistant Sheriff Kevin McMahill, at a news conference Wednesday, disclosed that Las Vegas police had talked with one or both of the Millers three times since they moved to Las Vegas from Indiana in January.

He says Jerad Miller was asked in February about threats he allegedly made to Indiana department of motor vehicle officials, and the Millers were interviewed in April and May as witnesses to alleged crimes involving others at the Las Vegas apartment complex where they lived.

The recorded call from Jerad Miller to the Indiana DMV was chilling. It was laced with profanities and a threat to kill people..."

They were interviewed by police. What more could they do? They don't have crystal balls to read the future.

from the link in the OP: "Indiana's whole court system is messed up. It's not my fault, and he needs to drop the case. If he doesn't, I'm going to be forwarding the bill to you guys," Miller said. "And if they come to arrest me for non-compliance or whatever, I'm just going to start shooting people."

There should be a law. If someone threatens to kill another, they should be arrested for the threat, tried, and if found guilty they should lose their right to own firearms. Easy peasy.

If somebody wants to kill me I wanna know about it. If they're muted by a law, they couldn't say anything to anyone. I want a warning.

what makes you think that having a law against threatening to murder will keep someone from making the threat? It's all a part of the bullying mentality in this country and I think there should be consequences for making threats of any kind.

People have gone off the deep end with their belief that violence is the preferred way to handle disagreements, differences of opinions, and/or poorly thought out overreactions.

It's clear that there are more crazies out there than we know about (present company excepted despite your nom de plume).
