My conspiracy theory about Iraq and ISIS.

Syria was a proxy war between the Shia/Iranians and Sunni/House of Saud. It was being run by Prince Bandar (Bush's amigo) and they almost got the US to enter the war on Al Quada/ISIS/Saudi's side in Syria last August before everyone here lost their minds about entering another war in the Middle East.

This is the conspiracy theory - someone somewhere wants another war between Iraq and Iran. They knew that there is no such thing as an Iraqi army - the society is too tribal have a concept of the nation-state. A paper tiger in American uniforms. The soldiers support their families, then tribes then co-religionists then the state. A war would bid up the price of oil, especially if the war is fought north of the Persian Gulf. I figure the Saudis are behind this and the US are just their dupes.

My personal opinion is the sooner we get energy independent we can leave the squalid part of the world to itself. Many on DU oppose Keystone and fracking. I don't. I want nothing to do with trying to run a part of the world that hates us. We are thankfully out of Iraq (thank you President Obama) and we are soon out of Afghanistan (thank you President Obama). We should destroy all of our equipment and let everyone know we are a terrible ally to have.

turning into the main battleground. What's not clear to me is why the US is threatened by this situation. SA and Qatar clearly want to use these extremists to accomplish their goals (no, there are no "moderate rebels", if the US had been smart we would have told SA that we weren't going to lift a finger to help them take out Assad), but why would these groups then suddenly turn to US terrorism? I understand that no one wants Taliban 2, Electric Boogaloo, Host of Terror. But I don't see where taking out extremists in every country on earth is our responsibility, especially when our "friends" are encouraging them.

Saudis (and Iran) can literally keep funding it with inflated oil prices...

That hatred has become very, very real... What the house of Saud doesn't realize is they are creating a monster on their northern border... either an even more hostile Shia state, OR an UBER strict and crazy Caliphate wanting state that will eventually bite the hand of their masters in Riyadh.

Actually, no. Quite the reverse. Thank you President Bush, even though he got us there in the first place.

The agreement which resulted in our exit from Iraq was reached between al-Maliki and Bush in 2008, and there was considerable outrage over the idea that he was infringing on the new president's perogatives; that as outgoing president he should have left it alone and let the new president deal with it.

Obama tried to reach agreement with al-Maliki to allow us to stay beyond the deadline agreed to by Bush and failed to do so. In the end, he was forced to honor the Bush/al-Maliki agreement and allow all forces to withdraw.

ride a bicycle?
we are becoming so much more energy efficient and sustainable, fracking is
not a solution, its just pollution.
pro-fracking sentiment should be received the way people here receive racism, sexism
and other forms of completely insensitive speech.
