5 Things to Know About the Armed Men in Your Local Chipotle

If you're any kind of aware of what's pissed the Internet off this past week, you probably know that a bunch of gun owners have started tromping around fast food restaurants, openly carrying AK-47s and AR-15s. In Chipotle and Chili's and other chains across Texas, men and (a few) women have started using firearms as protest signs. Their cause? Defending the sacred right of Americans to treat every day like Tactical Halloween.

The fact that these protests kicked off just days after America's latest horrific shooting spree may have something to do with the angry backlash these guys experienced. Some of that may have something to do with the fact that the poster boys for the "open carry" movement have an uncanny ability to look utterly absurd while carrying machine guns:

Via Slate
They call him ... the Mountain that Waddles.

In addition to prompting Chipotle and Chili's to ban their gun-toting asses, the members of Open Carry Tarrant County made the national news by harassing Marine veteran James Henry when he recorded one of their rallies. The media treated this story like one more loud, incoherently angry battle between pro- and anti-gun control groups. But I suspected this was something more complex and altogether much, much more stupid.

So I called up Henry and started Googling. Here's what I learned ...

We live here in the belly of the beast and most certainly WILL leave ANY restaurant, store or other business that allows this after we display our displeasure with the manager.

I'm so sick of these bullies I can scream.

It was nice to know that even here in teabilly heaven, there are quite a few folks that feel as I do.

I keep hearing these open carry idiots talk about how a rifle slung over the shoulder shouldn't be threatening.

What about these assholes who walk around with their weapon strapped on their chest and hands on the pistol grip like wannabe swat members or soldiers on patrol in Iraq?

One of our local gungeon trolls calls this a "anti gun fantasy" but you know what? Fuck these assholes. I hope someone else stands their ground with a concealed carry and drops one of these jag offs when they walk through the door of Chipotle with their rifle in the ready position and hand on the grip.

Yearly, the number of gun owners shrinks, while the number of guns they own grows.

Gun nuts are building arsenals.

I often hear the argument that guns are for self defense. Then why does one need so many? It's because the most unstable, paranoid, frankly unhinged people are getting a hold of the most guns. See Adam Lanza's mother. See the difference between Rodger and Lanza.

Why? Because those NRA talking points are LIES. They are building arsenals.

We don't have to live this way.

What about our children's right to life?

We should be ashamed of ourselves as a country.

But everything about that guy is an embarrassment, the biggest one being the gun. And that logo, I'm sure, sums up his philosophy.

From what I've seen of al-Bundy and their ilk, "well regulated" has never entered their vocabulary.

For example, always keep a small child in front of your gun, to catch any accidentally fired rounds:

If this had happened in my corner of the world - that people was going around with loaded weapons into diners - and other places where people was going - all hell would be out - and the police would have been in force larger than mosquitoes on a summer evening around a fishing pound - and the fellows would have been very lucky if they was not killed by the police... And they would have been given rather stiff fines - and prison time for a long time....

But then again - we do not have any 2 amendment in my country - and guns will never trump the safety of everyday Citizens who are going around doing their business as they say fit .....

If your founding fathers had known - what 2 amendment should be misused for less than 230 year after the country was founded - I suspect the whole concept of 2 amendment would have been decided upon as a very bad idea - and scrubbed from the Constitution all together - and replaced with a law where it was more clearly what it was all about....

There is a guy who just walked into ____ carrying a gun in a threatening manner. I'm worried he might hurt someone. I'm scared. Then hang up.

Cops will come and question him and waste his time and probably make him poop his pants.
