How Is Enlistment Going Given We Don't Have A Draft Anymore?.....

Are we replenishing the troops?

Given the treatment the GI's have been getting with respect to multiple redeployments and the poor follow-up they get when they get back with respect to health care. How many have lost their lives, become handicapped both physically and mentally after they return. Who still wants to join up?

When I left in 1969, as an E-4, it was up to a whopping $256. Now that's money, right there! I can't believe I didn't re-up.

Digging little holes to shit in. How to sleep while marching. How to barter boned chicken for wienies & beanies. How to kill people at 300 yards. How to salute idiots. How to hide booze duty NCO's and officers.

However, it did offer some some things that are actually useful. How to enunciate profanity properly. How to avoid work. And, Never, ever, volunteer.

They sent me to a total immersion Russian language school for 9 months and then to Turkey, right on the Black Sea coast. I didn't learn any of the things you mentioned.

I guess enlisting was a good idea, somehow.

Japan being the only part of being in the Marine Crotch I liked. Of, course the "like" part was due to being off duty.
