Teachers and staff at St. Paul's Community School of Excellence voted Wednesday to become the second unionized charter in Minnesota.

Education Minnesota, the statewide teachers union, said staffers voted "overwhelmingly" to join the union.

In the run-up to the vote, Education Minnesota filed six complaints against the school administration with the National Labor Relations Board, which will have to certify the election results.

"This is a historic and positive day for CSE," said Casey Seeling, a kindergarten teacher, in a statement released by the union. "We hope the decision to unionize will increase our student achievement and build stronger relationships among our school community."
