The poster had every right to alert and it looks like the jury agreed...so apparently not all of DU is in on this "fun" or history. The OP had no warning whatsoever. The title just talked about Open carry...nothing to do with nipples. How hard is it to put NSFW in the title?

It was indeed a masterstroke to make the analogy of breastfeeding with guns and blowing the babies head off with the nipple ie weapon or whatever. I guess The caption couldn't possibly be offensive to anyone. I find it ironic that there apparently are so many complaints about hiding INNOCENT breastfeeding but none about taking the innocence of breastfeeding and turning it into a disgusting analogy about guns.

Nope. The hidden post was about unimportant distractions. And it may have remained dead and buried if it hadn't gotten alerted on. But it did, it got in the the GD zeitgeist, and it went right over most peoples' heads, and GD fell for it hook, line, and sinker.
