IT departments can block you at work from sites that they think are not security safe or appropriate. It's called URL filtering. I know because I sell a crap load of it.
If your surfing DU it's because they let you. If you come across a thread with a nipple picture they pretty much will not see it unless they pull a report and go through every click you make. I doubt seriously that your busy IT dept will be doing that.
The big worry you should have is if you're surfing while you're supposed to be working. They can certainly monitor that.

(2,273 posts)I once clicked on post that had pictures of "women asked to be raped" signs and it was embarrassing because I have women who work around me and one saw it. I had to explain, that it was a post on a political sight where the person was against the sign but was sharing it.
But the guy who alerted on that thread was putting it on the IT department.

(3,709 posts)The danger here is if a busy-body, prude, or an employee who's looking for a fight sees this and goes to HR. That's when the problems begin and IT has to go through the reports to find what was offensive. As one of those HR people, believe me... it happens.
It's a simple matter of courtesy to post something that is potentially offensive with NSFW and then if the person still clicks on it, they take their chances.
This entire topic got so out of hand, as everything always does on DU. I swear I just wish people would stop jumping on every single post as if it was earth shattering. Then of course, that's coming from someone who jumped onto these threads. Oh well....
