(20,176 posts)headline tomorrow.
Former Congressman, 6 others, involved in failed Mexican jailbreak scheme. 1 potentially undead.
After and despite a peaceful resolution to this morning's jailbreak attempt, afterwards former Florida Congressman Allen West was found to be clinically brain-dead. According to examining physician Dr. Juan-Julio Cabeza de la Vaca, "It is the weirdest thing. Señor West has no apparent brain function...yet he's completely conscious if a little mentally-altered. It first I was concerned that this may be the zombie uprising the US popular culture is always going on about, but West actually seems to be repulsed by brains. Further, I hit him with a reflex hammer and he called me 'a dirty Cuban' so I hit him again. Further tests have been inconclusive, though an MRI has revealed that West's skull, where is brain should be, has been crudely excavated and filled with used tea bags."

(182,593 posts)This story (like almost all stories in our media) is not reported fully. There is always some key element missing.
He ended active duty in 2012. When I first heard about this story I thought "Whaaaat?!?!" but I looked into it and saw that he is a civilian who got busted in another country (happens all the time) and that the US has been working on his case.
Thank you. See post below.

(154,021 posts)I hope these dunces realize the Mexican Federal police and army have guns, and they are not scared to pull the trigger

(16,113 posts)That would have been a better plan than a show of force.

Been following this in the Mexican press. The first lawyer told him to lie. Never mind tape exists of him crossing the border repeatedly, which was entered into evidence.
