As reported earlier today, Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is officially back on United States soil. He was flown in last night from a U.S. Army hospital in Germany to the Brooke Army Medical center in San Antonio, Texas.
At 4:00 p.m. ET, the Army will hold a press conference discussing Bergdahls condition and medical care.

(7,784 posts)extremely careful to protect his privacy so they didn't give specifics about many things but only spoke in generalities.
Basically, they are satisfied with his medical condition which is why he was sent back from Germany. There are still some nutritional issues.
This phase of the reintegration process is about getting him to realize that he has control over his environment and can make choices (when and what to eat, when and who he wants to talk to, etc). They did say he has been asking for peanut butter
Another part of the process is getting him to realize that coping mechanisms he needed in captivity are no longer necessary. Basically, they view him as a normal personal who experienced something abnormal, they said this several times.
There is no set timetable for this process, each case is individual. His captivity is somewhat unique because of the duration and because he was alone.
He does not have access to TV and is not yet aware of the public reaction to his release.
The parents are not there yet. They didn't elaborate but they read the statement the family released asking for privacy and saying they would not make their travel plans public.
If I find a video I'll post it.
