Shep Smith: The Same People Who Were Wrong About Iraq Now Want Us To Go Back

TOM KLUDT – JUNE 13, 2014, 4:07 PM EDT

Fox News anchor Shepard Smith provided some useful history on Friday about many of the same people who are now pressuring the Obama administration to take military action in Iraq, where Islamic militants have overrun two cities in recent days as they march toward Baghdad.

Smith kicked off his afternoon broadcast with a recap of the deteriorating security situation in Iraq before he offered a barely veiled commentary on the debate playing out here in the United States.

"Are we about to be drawn back into a conflict in Iraq?" Smith asked. "The same people who 12 years ago told us this will be quick, this will be easy, this will be inexpensive, they will see us as liberators, it's the right thing to do, are now telling us: It's the right thing to do. What's the endgame? Who's thought this through?"

Later in the broadcast, Smith, who's earned a reputation for occasionally bucking his employer's conservative orthodoxy, told fellow Fox News host Chris Wallace he still hasn't forgotten "being bamboozled" by the Bush administration before the U.S.-led invasion in 2003.

Still, I like his use of the word 'bamboozled.' He plays the part of the rogue fringe at Fox, I think.

Colmes simply served as Hannity's punching bag and little more, although we have a DUer who also guests on Fox, but holds firm even though they also shout over him.

Some people have more patience with the smarmy liars at Fox, and try to get a word in edgewise in the middle of the reichwing propaganda.

Smith seems to have breached the cardinal rule at Fox, “Don’t remember inconvenient stuff.” Pointing out that Iraq is a fustercluck, who clucked that fuster, and that those same fustercluckers are the ones shooting their mouths off now would seem to be a sure-fire ticket to the unemployment line.

Maybe he has some incriminating photos of Rupert Murdoch? And given what we actually know about Murdoch, what must be in a photo that would make that old reprobate feel incriminated?

Fund all overseas military activity from this point forward by taxing each and every defense contractor at the rate of 90%. Bet that would cut down on the war machine.

Was watching and they had an Iraq war vet on asking him how the falling of the cities and asked about air strikes. He laughed about the G.W. Bush carrier being moved into the gulf. The reporter asked him what was so funny, and he said I guess this'll be the third time Bush has been to Iraq.

Also saw the Shep Smith and he was interviewing McCain and was asked if he ever got news while in captivity. I shit you not but unless my ears are completely shot he said, "yea, we got news but it was only the bad news. It is comparable to this station and we called it Hanoi Hannah.

They can have Larry Summers, Tim Geithner, Eric Holder, Lanny Bruer and a player to be named later for Shep Smith.

the unnamed player can't be Alex Sink. She's already been designated to complete the trade that brought Charlie Christ to the Democrats.

out of the hundreds of reporters, writers, pundits and other talking heads, Smith is the only one with any truth or facts. They keep him for the trace of credibility he brings to an otherwise desolate bunch of liars, haters and whiners.

Have they learned any lessons from their past mistake of invading Iraq, oh wait that wasn't a mistake, it cost a trillion dollars but look at all those profits, with the lion's share going to the MIC, exactly the outcome they wanted.
