Anyone else think the A-10s currently being retired would be a great match for the pleas of the Iraqi government and Iranian promises of bilateral cooperation?We could send the planes to an Iranian airbase and supply maintenance line support and flight instruction using National Guard personnel. We could also supply ammunition and spares. Iraq could send military pilots to transition to the Hogs.
US helps an "ally" at minimal cost and no boots on the ground in disputed areas.
Iraq gains the air support they so obviously need.
Iran gains a better working relationship with the US and air support for their troops who will be in harms way.
The loser in the game of course would be the MIC who would much rather see the depletion and or sale of current production aircraft. This is the war the Hogs were built for and I think even people on this board could approve this level of support.

...IMO, by FAR the best ground attack aircraft ever produced. AND, despite those who criticize its aesthetics, I think it's quite striking!
