Do you think Cheney, Rumsfield et al knew in 2003 we'd never be free of Iraq involvement?

All that flowers, and cakewalk and 2 weeks tops, and be seen as liberators stuff -- all the mushroom could, yellowcake stuff.

All this time, we thought the big lie was the lack of WMD.

But what if the REALLY BIG lie was that once we went into Iraq we'd never be able to be free of it?

All of them, Condi, Cheney, all of the people around them are saying, well yeah, of course, we thought we would have to stay longer than 2011. Even when we signed the deal in 2008, we always knew we wold have to stay after 2011.

They haven't been right about any one thing in Iraq -- but yet, it seems as if they knew all along exactly what would happen.

She might have, but Cheney and Rumsfeld probably knew it would be a mess and I'm sure didn't care.

... and war as an opportunity to transfer govt funds (borrowed) to MIC and various contractors (no bid, of course). Haliburton was facing bankruptcy before Iraq. They didn't much care about how long we were there, or how many US and Iraqi lives were lost, as long as they could be there long enough to milk the profits.

They knew the next president would be stuck with the mess, and they could stand back and thumb their noses at him.

enough nonsense from Saddam everyone in a while to keep everybody happy selling weapons and what not without getting lots of troops killed. The oil boys did not like it well because they wanted the oil so they decided lets get rid of Saddam, take the oil and put in a new guy. Worst case is perpetual war in the region, good for MIC business, and high oil prices in the ME which makes West Texas Crude and other US oil even MORE profitable to the oil boys.

So does that answer your question as to what basically went down?
