There is an estate sale two weeks from today. I'm told there is a large selection of Beatles memorabilia including many unopened 60's items. It will not be an auction. Prices will be on the items. Pricy things will be on a make an offer list. Highest offer at the end gets the items at the reduced price.
IF you have an item in mind you would love to have, just let me know what it is and what you are willing to pay. I'll be there anyway. No $ for myself other than the real cost of S&H.
Us Beatlemaniacs have to stick together. "ALL you need is LOVE"
Keep this kicked so everybody sees this.
Marta and I will be seeing Ringo later this year.
If I had to choose just one recording from my entire collection that would be the only music I could ever hear from then on, it would be....

(76 posts)I used to have a real Beatle wig for a skit we did as Cub Scouts. The scoutmaster put on the wrong side of the song we were supposed to pantomime (instead of I Want to Hold Your Hand she put on I Saw Her Standing There) but we all knew the words to that one too so nobody noticed.
Biggest Beatles fan on the planet here....

(99,508 posts)I'll have my phone with me for pix of the shape they are in and prices. I won't see it until the door opens.

(11,833 posts)Have a wonderful time. This song from Let It Be reminds me of it:
Two of us riding nowhere
Spending someone's
Hard earned pay
You and me Sunday driving
Not arriving
On our way back home
We're on our way home
Hope you snag some great Beatles stuff.

(18,619 posts)Good luck at that sale. I hope the price of some items have cooled since the golden years, but I wouldn't count on it. The Beatles' popularity should live on well after we're gone. The first vinyl LP I ever bought was the "White Album". I'm still a big fan.
This photo was strongly considered before they picked the one they used:
But these were also taken that day:
I wish I still had my Beatles cards. They were like baseball cards but featured pix of the Fab Four with fun facts on the reverse. No one I ask even seems to remember them.

(14,691 posts)they came with crappy sheets of bubblegum.

(18,619 posts)I thought it was a talcom covered stiffener so the cards wouldn't warp. Did you put everything in your mouth when you were a kid?
Just kidding, it's good to connect with someone else who recalls those. I wonder where they all are? I've never seen them since.

(11,833 posts)I'd guess they are in some pretty awesome collections of Beatles memorabilia.
Cool photos of the Abbey Road shoot. Thanks!

(14,691 posts)some of it was pretty silly, like the Beatles on a beach, wearing what looked like Gay '90s striped swimsuits and waving straw hats. I'm sorry I threw out the cards way back. They would have been worth some $$ now, e.g., like the round plastic record case I also owned that now goes for $450.00. Who knew?

(3,225 posts)it is heavy and made from metal. It has little wheels on the bottom, and when you roll it, the multiple periscopes spin around. There are two hatches that open with two of the boys in each. Alas, when I was a wee lad I popped open one of the hatches and two little guys flew out across the room and disappeared down the furnace grate in the hallway floor. I wonder if they're still down there? I no longer live in that house.

(99,508 posts)A tube (spy) camera (could rent one) would find them IF a remodeling or replacement furnace didn't remove them.

(3,225 posts)It was like 40 something years ago. I DO still live in the same city. I'll report back if something happens. I just checked and it was George and Ringo who went on a wild ride into the abyss, Paul and John are still snug in the sub.

(3,225 posts)mine looks most like the first one, pretty sure it was an original series and not a reproduction. Of course, I suppose there are ways of finding that out, infranets and Antique Roadshow people and all...

(330 posts)I probably can't afford it. But I agree about Abbey Road, 'though I'd miss Let it Be (the song), which in my opinion is the most sublime song ever.
