Where do all the Citizens United billions go? To the media, of course. Conflict of interest?

Who is going to report on the fact that the billions of dollars unleashed by a court decision defying a century of electoral law goes to the very same entities that are supposed to report on the fact that the court decision has unleashed these billions?

The media is drowning in campaign ad money, there is not enough time available to fill the demand, so there may not be as many eyeballs, but who cares when the swimming pool of mullah is overflowing?

All they have to do is keep the two team race close, keep advancing any and all speech as equal and equally worthy, all events are political, all issues ignored in favor of marching bands and circus acts, a horse race is vital until Election Day and then close the vault.

It is a self perpetuating perpetual motion circle jerk between the media and the money.

Who will watch the watchmen?

billionaire types would simply be buying up the media outlets and thus just be 'paying themselves'. Pouring the money out of one pocket and into the other, really.

So basically the corps spend their money on the candidates who spend a bunch of it on media buys (while pocketing/diverting a whole lot.)

The media influences the voting public whipping them into a frenzy of "supporting the candidates" because the evil brown (or spawn-o-bush) might take over the planet. Nice little racket.

I've always wondered how much of this money (mostly from taxpayers originally) actually gets reported and has fair US tax liabilities applied against it.

My sense is that all of the major players in politics (and industry) view paying taxes as something that only the peons (their minions) do.

given to local community groups and non-PAC receiving candidates to get out their ideas and solutions.

40% ought to do it, it is the people's airwaves after all. More of a frustrated idea than a good one, in the absence of a constitutional amendment.

The thing is the incredible vacuum in election finance law left after Citizens United has created a lawless Wild West of election procedures and rules. The ultimate insult of the court ruling was not permitting the. Action time to fill in the void with new law. It was on purpose, this is the intended result, corruption of politicians, corruption of the media, corruption of reasoned debate. The next best thing to economic ruin so badly wanted by RW tall foreheads manipulating the process.

The media can not report that someone who says completely insane stuff is completely insane. To do so would disturb the balance of the horse race. The key take-away from that is that we can't base our opinions on what is rational on whether the media portrays someone as rational.

So, don't watch the media.

They buy the loopholes, they buy the courts, and through their bought politicians they create their special carve outs, all the while not paying their fair share for the costs of the many wars they want to send other peoples children to fight for their right to keep the status quo.

Main media and Hollywood are key players in the GOP crime syndicate, a.k.a the extreme right wing.

This is not the usual Grand Old Party of political theater America is used to. Today’s conservative party is not the party of the people. Anyone could fathom that too big to fail is a very fine tuned orchestrated plot that is based on war profiteering for the one percent.

The new politics is actually a well-rounded legal, business government media military banking crime syndicate. It’s an incredible hoax that seems to appear on a regular basis now since GOP with Bush and Company forged decades of profiteering and phony politics last century.

It is incredible that the Bush family avoided news and publicity to be condemned by huge conflicts of interest that are so out of line, way past the legal envelope, the fact is Bush should never be in politics let alone take a leadership position as President appointing people to political positions that are antithetical to the basic Constitution, riddling the government with lies.

It has to be the greatest story never told where the Bush family supported the rise of the Nazi party decades ago. Now as business partners with the Bin Laden family, the very important rich Arab family that supporting all kinds of crazy military actions in the Middle East, or at ground zero which is Bush treason.

Many could draw the conclusion that this GOP Bush crime syndicate that is too big to fail has a significant value. The GOP of today offers a special attraction, something unique seen every day heard over the radio and viewed over the cable. The GOP especially Fox news spews out Hate American government messages. That’s treason.
