Las Vegas Honors Fallen Cop at Funeral - Victim of Tea Party Terrorism
I think it's important enough to press forward. I think we need to start doing this in earnest!
Start calling it exactly what it is. Rinse and repeat - BECAUSE it's necessary.
This framing needs to be said, read, and SPREAD. 'Cause that is exactly what it is. These are nothing but domestic terrorists. They're no different from those behind the upheavals anywhere in the Islamic world. Except for skin color, shaven-versus-bearded, and style of dress. And sometimes even the style of dress is much the same.
This IS domestic terrorism, pure & simple. These individuals and groups that perpetrate it ARE domestic terrorists. They are fomenting TERRORISM, scaring and intimidating and attempting to manipulate the people around them through fear. Let me ask here - is that any different from what we've seen in any Israeli bus bombing, any shoot-em-ups in and around the Green Zone, any snipers and stealth bombers in Afghanistan? ANY difference from what we've got going on here? And it IS lain at the feet of the tea baggers. AND the NRA.
For all those dingdongs out there who yammer - "meh, they're both the same. Both parties are the same. There's no difference between them! All of 'em bad! Pox on BOTH their houses!" Just consider THIS. Do we see ANY Democrats or liberals or progressives among these ranks? Any confirmed, resolute blue-staters out there with that stupid YELLOW snake flag and the stupid three-cornered hats with teabags hanging from the rim? Any of OURS out there parading around with the flag and the "Don't Tread On Me" crap? Any of ours shoving our big-ass guns and ammo and massacre machines in everyone's faces and hanging down our backs and strapped across our chests? Any of ours doing the IN-YER-FACE force-feeding of guns everywhere - like in fast-food joints and the toy aisles of general-interest or big-box department stores? Any of ours championing that shit in any state legislatures? ANY? ANYONE?
Indeed. I didn't think so.
These are nothing more and nothing less than domestic TERRORIST groups. Remember when sharron angle in Nevada whined that if the wrong-wing didn't get their way in yet another election, they might have to consider "second amendment remedies"? Remember that? That's what she called it. Which should provoke the challenges: "whaddya mean, lady? What do you mean by that? That you and yours are gonna start shooting us because we disagree with you and don't vote the way YOU say we're supposed to vote? Is THAT it?" I think, deep down, that's what she did mean. And I think WAY deep-down, that's what she wishes they could get away with doing in order to FORCE their minority will upon the majority - which is annoyingly uncooperative on this issue. It was a silky, under-stated attempt to threaten and terrorize, and manipulate behavior. AND THAT ACTUALLY IS TERRORISM. It's the very definition of terrorism. And I don't mind calling it that, openly. It's the TRUTH. That is exactly what it IS. And hell, they ARE getting away with it. And they're NOT being openly challenged in this way - the way they SHOULD be openly challenged. EVERYONE should be calling them what they are: DOMESTIC TERRORISTS. I've already started with that framing, myself. And I'm hoping it spreads.
Who's with me?

Rumplestilskin was famed for spinning straw into gold. Teabaggers are quite adept at spinning gold (and historic symbology) into shit. I just think it's kinda comical that their favorite flag is YELLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Matches their spines!

Speaking on his Internet show on Wednesday, libertarian pundit, gun rights activist and former resident of a D.C. prison Adam Kokesh partially defended the actions of Jerad and Amanda Miller, the far-right extremists who recently killed two police officers, a civilian and themselves in a Las Vegas public shooting.
Railing against the Southern Poverty Law Center and USA Today for acknowledging how the Millers were influenced by Kokesh, the host swore vengeance, saying that the SPLC and USA Today are not going to get away with it this time.
He also argued that because Americas political institutions including the police have become homicidal against freedom, it was wrong to see the Millers unprovoked killing spree as acts of murder rather than self-defense.
-snip-
Ultimately calling the attack an example of not necessarily unjustified violence, Kokesh insinuated that the Millers killing spree was the governments fault.

Kokesh when talking to Jones, who encouraged him (Kokesh was not 'partially' about any of it) insisted they saved lives by killing those cops.
That's very popular, but not all say it as plainly as they have, although it's the intent of the hatred often voiced. Any other intrepretation will get you labeled as boot licking authoritarian.
The Teaterrorists have hit an alternative media gold mine with this couple:
Fighting the 'Police State.' He simply carried it to the logical extension of that belief system.

(81,110 posts)Yellow is the color of cowardice. No wonder they gravitate toward this particular flag. Cowards all, and overcompensating rather embarrassingly. I sure wouldn't want to parade my cowardice around like they do with theirs! One would think that kind of thing would more preferably be kept hidden - dirty little secret that it is. But no. They're out 'n' proud with it, aren't they? Tells you a lot about these types, doesn't it.

(81,110 posts)Even just talking about it openly might be enough.
HOW MANY TIMES have they called Our President a NON-American? How many times have we heard him openly portrayed and dismissed as an Other, an Alien, a Non-citizen? Hey, why can't turnabout be fair play here? How about some taste of their own medicine for a change? Let's not just rail against them. Let's LABEL them. Call them what they actually are: seditionists, and traitors. We ARE still a nation at war. We ARE still a nation with our own soldiers in harm's way on an active theater of war, with their asses on the line in a certified hot zone. Which then means that these assholes like alex jones and mark levin and glenn beck and the breitbart wannabes and limbots and Pox Noise turds are flirting with serious and real charges of treason. Treason against the Commander-in-Chief during actual, real-life, cold-harsh-reality wartime.
I'd throw THAT at 'em and make 'em start squirming. Start putting that label out there, across their faces and jamming it into their mouths and down their throats. Challenging and impugning THEIR patriotism for a change. Hell, they've more than earned it! And if it was a republi-CON in the White House at a time like this, don't think for a nanosecond that THEY would skip a golden opportunity like this to lambaste US with it. They already have! They did that all the way through our side's objections to the Iraq War - the run-up to it and the actual perpetrating of it. Let's give it back to them by the truck-load!
And I don't care if it's extreme. I don't care if calling them treasonous against the Commander-in-Chief during wartime is somehow irrelevant or not exactly by the book or not completely accurate to the circumstances in question. I DON'T CARE!!! It's enough that we start flinging it at them, painting them with it, and LAMINATING it onto them in every way, shape, and form. As LBJ once reportedly said, "Make 'em Deny It," upon accusing a political opponent of sleeping with pigs: He didn't care if it was true or not. He didn't care if it was realistic or made sense or not. The POINT was - to put it out there and make them have to confront it and deal with it and use the wording of it (thereby unwittingly furthering the framing), and painting a really darling picture that would stick in the mind of the listener - whether the listener agreed or not. Put it ON THE TABLE ANYWAY. "Make 'em deny it!" Along the same lines as "when did you stop beating your wife?" Might not be a wife-beater you're speaking about (or to), at all! But the thought, and the seed, and the disruptive context of it HAS BEEN PLANTED IN THE MIND OF THE LISTENER ANYWAY. It's psychology, and the unsuspecting listeners on the sidelines can't help it. It'll stick in their minds ANYWAY. And the target of same is now wearing that around like the proverbial millstone around the neck ANYWAY.
There needs to be a cost for doing this - for these assholes like beck and jones and the rest of 'em who gleefully and recklessly inhabit this trash heap. There needs to be a cost. A price to pay. So far they're doing it with impunity - which means to do something with no fear that there will be punishment, repercussions, ramifications, or penalties OF ANY KIND. They just go ahead and do it. So why can't we?????? Time to exact a price for talking like this. There's no way to yank them off the air (which I personally would find preferable). So let's do the next best thing. Make it costly for them to say this stuff and spread this stuff and foment this stuff and stir people up about this stuff. Let's put a price on it - and a BIG one.
It's called mind-fucking. Playing dirty. Fine. So be it. These are the times we live in and the rules that the bad guys have set up - which they assume are one-way rules - they get to do it and we don't. FUCK THAT. I think it's high time we do it. Put THEM on defense for a change, and KEEP THEM THERE!!!!!

Never compliment your opponent or treat them with respect

You mastrubate to abuse, you commit crimes and lie like you breathe. Your association with (insert criminal or corporation here) is just further proof of your complete absence of ethics or morality you claim to love so steely."
Turn their own beliefs against them. If they're Christian, cite hen bible they believe in, and don't let them cherry pick. You be'ievenit all or nothi. How dare you question the all powerful creator of the universe you claim to worship?" "You're Catholic, please explain why you love child rate do much you continue to finance it, even after the very public expose"
This is what we need to use. If your opponent is not curled under the table wailing, you're not hitting them hard enough, and if you succeed, then make sure you kick them, so you win not just this fight, but all the others

(81,110 posts)Good to have you with us, and a good point you make, too. I've found myself acting on that already! During all that madness about the botched execution and the further examination of the state of executions in this country and how they're carried out in the American penal system and the ways states like Texas relish executions and hunger for them and loudly cheer over them and enumerate them with great pride, and try to find ways around the law regarding chemical mixtures to do it with - I found myself saying "well, can't be pro-life then, can ya?"
NO. You CAN'T. You can't have it both ways. As you point out, Bickle, they're either on it fully or off it. There's no middle ground here. For example, if you are FOR executions, FOR the death penalty, and FOR every chance to go to war that you stumble across, then you are by definition NOT pro-life. PERIOD. So stop pretending and singling women out for persecution, government intervention into one's personal life, and violations of privacy! You can't say you're against big government intrusion into people's lives if you're anti-choice. Because what you advocate is the ULTIMATE in government intrusion into people's lives. Same here! If you're THAT cavalier about other people's lives, whether it's those in prison targeted for execution, or those in other countries with beards and turbans and no white skin like yours is, then you're NOT pro-life.
I say throw it back in their faces and force them to live it and own it and wear it around like shit on a shingle.

(15,882 posts)one becomes like them, the less we need one or the other, since they are nothing but duplicates.
There's nothing wrong with hostility and conflict (and I would love to see any research that suggests your opinion has any validity rather than being just more hot air on the Internet - plenty of people on the Left walk into conflict, readily). Conflict and hostility, like comedy, are nothing but tools, strategies for the change agent, the disruptor.
You mistake hostility and conflict for the goal. They are part of disorganizing what is already organized, so you can build something new, not used just to "beat" your opponent, the result of which is that they simply beat you back, and it becomes an endless series of conflicts.
Such as today, in our two plantation system.
One must come up with a better plan that actually builds toward a future with more opportunity for everyone and get your neighbors to walk should-to-shoulder with you toward it.Your opponent desires nothing more than to tear things down, and if your goal becomes beating your opponent, and thus becoming more like them, there is nothing left but endless conflict and death.
Back around 1550 de la Boetie wrote that there is no need to raise a hand toward the tyrant. Because the tyrant has nothing except what you have given them, if you remove your support they will fall of their own weight.
And you remove their support when your neighbors and you work together to help yourselves, and quit helping the thieving rentiers.

It annoys me to no end, when people use the phrase "The Left" when they're really referring to moderate liberals, which is definitely only marginally "closer" to "the Left", than the "Right". it only adds confirmation to the fact that media has successfully and completely programmed the public and re-defined the language of our socio-economic and political culture. It's time to reclaim our language needed for direct, clear communication and ultimately empowerment.

*********QUOTE********
from Wiki
As a United States Senator, he was a staunch supporter and author of "Great Society" legislation that encompassed Medicare and Medicaid, the War on Poverty, federal support for higher education and veterans. He co-wrote the Endangered Species Act and was the most powerful proponent of the Big Thicket National Preserve.[1] He was the only southern senator to vote for all civil rights bills from 1957 to 1970 (including the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965).[2] Yarborough was known as "Smilin' Ralph" and used the slogan "Let's put the jam on the lower shelf so the little people can reach it" in his campaigns. ....
Yarborough rode in the Dallas motorcade in which John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963. He was in a convertible with Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson, Lady Bird Johnson (who sat between Yarborough and Johnson), United States Secret Service agent Rufus Youngblood, and Hurchel Jacks of the Texas State Highway Patrol. From the start of the President's tour of Texas, Yarborough considered that he had been slighted by some of the arrangements and so, in the early stages, refused to ride with Johnson, despite repeated pleas by Youngblood.[6] His decision, underpinned by a long-standing feud with Governor Connally,[7] an old friend and erstwhile ally of Johnson, caused embarrassment to both the President and Vice-President and drew considerable diversionary attention in the press.[8] According to Johnson, Kennedy considered Yarborough's behavior "an outrage"[9] and there is some evidence of a heated exchange between Kennedy and Johnson the night before the President's death. According to Johnson's biographer, Robert Caro, the following morning in Fort Worth, Kennedy intervened directly with Yarborough, making clear that, if he valued his friendship, he would ride with Johnson when the party reached Dallas. Then, during the short flight from Fort Worth, Kennedy persuaded Connally to give Yarborough a more prominent role in some of the later functions planned in Austin.[10] In the ensuing motorcade, the car carrying Yarborough and the Vice President was two cars behind that carrying Kennedy and Connally (who was seriously wounded during the attack on the President).[11] In a later interview, Yarborough called the event, "the most tragic event of my life."[12] Shortly after Johnson became President, Yarborough telephoned him in conciliatory and supportive terms. ....

(426 posts)Though it should be noted - correct me if I'm wrong - a lot of people who talk about both parties being the same are probably talking about being bought by corporate interests. And while some Dems are certainly guilty of stepping up to the corporate till, it's to a far lesser degree than Repugs. They are also much fewer in number. And they still fight for social issues in the public interest, not against our interests or even public safety like guns for everyone - the great cry from the right.
And let's give credit where credit is due ---> Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Coulter and every other right wing media whore. They are just, if not more, responsible than the GOP for this domestic terrorism by constantly fanning the flames.

(10,007 posts)Without evidence of aiding and abetting, it's disingenuous to label the Tea Party as "terrorists." They're ass-hats, sure, but we should not be adding to the misuse of the term "terrorist" to simply mean "people we don't like."
We object when the vandalism perpetrated by a minority of black-bandana-wearing anarchists is portrayed as representative of liberal and progressive street protestors. We shouldn't use the same smear tactics in return.
Focus on the stupidity of their policies rather than using dishonest framing.

The tea party's terrorist tactics
It has become commonplace to call the tea party faction in the House hostage takers. But they have now become full-blown terrorists.
They have joined the villains of American history who have been sufficiently craven to inflict massive harm on innocent victims to achieve their political goals. A strong America has always stood firm in the face of terrorism. That tradition is in jeopardy, as Congress and President Barack careen toward an uncertain outcome in the tea party- manufactured debt crisis.
