It's "Bizarre" to think toppling Saddam Hussein had impact ' on Syria and Iraq

I knew everyone would be curious who said this stupidity

Tony Blair: 'We didn't cause Iraq crisis'

Writing on his website, he said the violence was the "predictable and malign effect" of inaction in Syria.

"We have to liberate ourselves from the notion that 'we' have caused this," he wrote. "We haven't."

He said the idea that the current crisis was a result of the toppling of Saddam Hussein in 2003 was "bizarre".

Mr Blair said the takeover of Mosul by Sunni insurgents was planned across the Syrian border.

The violence is a "predictable and malign effect" of fucking invading a country, completely destroying its government, all its civic institutions, and disbanding its military - this last being the one vehicle that might have held together a sense of national, rather than sectarian identity. And then on top of all that, pushing for a sectarian zealot - Malaki - to lead the sham "democracy" the illegal invasion left behind.
