Was another ship not available, because this could be seen as purposely insulting to the whole region, no?

And naming ships of war after past Presidents is idiotic.

to the Promised Land. Don't send our troops, just put the Bushes in charge of the Iraqi troops. I think that would round out their legacies very well.

I remember thinking, "If the alternative is war and the likely deaths of thousands, why wouldn't someone agree to a straight-up fight?"

Googling it now, it's unsurprising that Ari Fleischer shot it down without a thought: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/world/americas/2297371.stm

A hell of a lot of people would be alive today, and a lot of others would have their missing limbs and their sanity back. I'm hoping that one day we can solve conflicts with virtual reality wars. Let the two leaders play a video game against each other. This shit we're doing now has got to stop. Maybe if we can somehow make it unprofitable to wage real-life wars, we might see the end of it. I think we should make contractors provide their services and products to the government free of charge, as proof of their patriotism. If our young people can give their all for their country, why can't they?

Others were sent to Basra and another Iraqi city not currently threatened. I doubt any are on the carrier or will be coming home.
