"You can skip this ad in...."

So, I clicked on a link to a story on a Maine TV station website. Of course there was a commercial before the story with the usual "you can skip this ad in..." For this particular ad, it said I could skip it in 15 seconds. That turned out to be the length of the ad, so the ad in fact could not be skipped. I had the sound turned off and looked to the side but looked at it a couple of times to see if it was over - I'll have to get a timer for these things.

I had the opposite of that the other day, just left the add running as I was finishing something in another tab and dang if the add wasn't like 3 minutes long! did finally click to end it.

sometimes, particularly with those types of ads, additional interaction is needed - but only once per type. Basically, when the annoyance comes up, click on the ad block icon and select View blockable items (something like that). Play with it a bit to learn how to recognize the frame you want to eliminate, and block it. It works great.

ever know that you're my hero?

I am amazed at the reduction of bullshit I don't have to see anymore.

It was getting really bad, continuous update your browser crap, etc, meet asian women, everything you could possibly imagine and now, NADA.

Thanks, I owe you a libation or whatever of your choice.
