Tragically, all weve fought for in Iraq, all that 4,500 American lives were shed to gain, is on the cusp, potentially, of vanishing.- Mitt Romney, Ideas Summit, 6/13/2014
All we fought for in Iraq.
All we fought for in Iraq is on the cusp of vanishing.
Thats what Mitt Romney says.
We fought for. We fought for. We.
Oh, so its we now, is it, Mitt?
We.
I must have missed you over there, but it was a busy place. We. The guy who helped set up pro-draft rallies and yet somehow managed to avoid service in Vietnam is upset about losing what we fought for? We.
Yeah, fuck you, Mitt...

(9,704 posts)I searched the greatest page and general discussion before I posted this, but didn't find this article anywhere. I haven't been around for a couple of days, so I missed it on the greatest page.
I'll not delete this thread, but rather, leave it for others like me, who didn't catch it the first time. It's just too good to miss!

First, Im going to need somebody to explain to me exactly what it was that we were fighting for.
What was it? What is it that we gained, according to Mitt Romney? And what is on the cusp of vanishing? What is that? No, really, somebody please explain it to me.
Because Id love to know.

(80,693 posts)The "YOU FIRST!!!" Coalition is speaking to YOU and DIRECTLY to YOU, mitt. AND your five strong, healthy, strapping young military-age sons - who, just like you, have NEVER SERVED!!!
YOU go over there. YOU lead the way. YOU get your own up-close-n-personal taste of it over there. YOU put your life at risk, and YOUR ass on the line, and risk getting YOUR legs blown off.
THEN (And ONLY Then), you can tell me all about it and you might actually have a little credibility for a change.
YOU FIRST.

(41 posts)A lot like looking at The Wall in DC and staring at it and crying and thinking... What the hell for?
That's what I feel about the whole mess in Iraq.
And they haven't figured out a monument yet...but when they do (oh they will).... what will it be for?
NOTHING.

(12,802 posts)The Bush neoncons had several key motivations for invading Iraq, first & foremost being the Project for the New American century. They saw Iraq as the first step in a new world order based on US military hegemony. Add to that control of oil resources, oil profits, war profits, keeping the petrodollar as the default world currency, dual loyalty to Israel, and domestic politics. It wasn't done because W wanted to finish what pappy started. And it wasn't to find WMD or simple-minded bloodlust, though that played well with the simple-minded crowd.
As for all the angry denunciations from McCain, Romney, et al, they would do that with any Democrat in office because that's what they do. They're cheerleaders for a colossal strategic blunder which turns to bloody chaos as predicted they will place blame elsewhere and act like they're the ones to trust with matters of national security.
And the "liberal" media puts them in front of the camera and plays along like they're someone that anyone in their right mind should listen to.
