Topless Feminist Stabs Putin Dummy in Paris Wax Museum. Obama Figure Looks On. (photos)

PS no vouching for sources of these photos, just found them on google search

A topless feminist protester has stabbed a waxwork of Russian leader Vladimir Putin in a Paris museum.

The women, from the protest group Femen, carried out the attack with a chisel, attacking the model of the Russian leader in the face.

She had "Kill Putin" written on her bare chest and screamed "Putin is a dictator" when she attacked, reported Le Parisien.
A topless activist from the Femen feminist group makes her feelings clear as she straddles a fallen wax figure of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Putin" was struck as waxworks of Obama and French President Francois Hollande "looked on".

The Russian president is among many leaders and heads of state in France gathered to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

The "NSFW" purists will ignore the whole "topless" part in the subject line and be annoyed they weren't warned of a possibility of bare skin being displayed.

I don't think this was a terribly useful demonstration, though. Advocating violence to end violence? And wrecking the wax figure, why not tear up a picture like Sinead in front of the thing.

Why were the cameras there? Picture looks professionally done...?

Were they warned that a piece of performance art would ensue?

We must not just fight for equality, but extreme time is taken combating "backlash" from some. People who don't like the progress being made are putting up "roadblocks" that have to be confronted.

You hinted at that above. More than hinted from the way I read it. For many, in my opinion, the backlash isn't out of fear or anger, but is out of the knowledge that backlash slows down progress. Well placed backlash unfortunately needs to be dealt with. I know you are very aware of this but don't think many are. That is why I think it is so important to emphasize. If people come to understand that one fact, they would better understand the unbelievable impediments we face when fighting for equality. My thoughts and writing on this topic are very simple minded to you I am sure, as reading your thoughts over the years has shown me complexities I didn't acknowledge/understand before. Sometimes I think it helps me to take one aspect at a time and to "fully" understand it before moving on. I liked how simple that post of yours was yet it was on something I consider to have amazing significance.

Some of this progress (e.g. an increasing awareness of the harm of sexual objectification) is something that many would like very much to impede, by muddying the waters, going to ludicrous extremes, etc.

And your thoughts and writing aren't simple or facile at all.

Thanks for posting that pic, it's a prime example of self-promoting rather than changing anything. They can't be counted on to do anything for women that doesn't get media time, which is where the real work is done. I can't help but feel they are supporting the status quo of what they claim to be against. Because that does happen, to discredit those without power.

<Ukrainian activist troupe FEMEN erred in judgment before, but this is just strange. Here’s their latest topless antic on the streets of Kiev honoring the strength of the Japanese people in crisis. It involves a “Shake Boobs Not Earth” sign and said boobs resting on samurai swords. NSFW.

For an extra element of uncomfortable, here’s FEMEN’s action description, reluctantly translated:

FEMEN conducts an action in support of the Japanese people. “Praise those who defeat the dragon!” FEMEN are earnestly inspired by the Japanese people who were able to overcome this disaster. Their strength, their samurai self-control, their heroic actions in time of crisis should serve as examples for all of us. Japan has proved their ability to rise from the ashes before and we believe they will defeat the Dragon before the cherry blossoms bloom.

Right. This does not explain why they’re sitting in seppuku positions… among other whys, in light of the latest confirmed statistics: 4,255 dead and 8,194 missing.>

The original nipple threads that got locked were alerted on because the poster baited with a thread title about open carry and then refused to add NSFW when posters request he do so.

In this case, the word TOPLESS provides sufficient warning as to the content of the thread.

That actually would have been a funny/wry/snarky comment coming from the "right" poster--someone with a demonstrated support of women's issues, for example, and if accompanied by, say, an eye roll, a tag, something on those lines ... but that profile shows a lot of hides, not sure why but they don't inspire confidence.

I just don't have a sense of sincerity. I could be wrong, of course.
