In Washington, Senator Lindsey Graham, a leading foreign policy hawk, said the US should “sit down and talk” with Iran over the crisis and attacked President Barack Obama for what he said was his “delusional and detached” response.

Apart from ahmadinejad and his stupid rhetorical oversteps, they've played a shit hand very well.

Got rid of their pet hate Saddam Hussein, Taliban are seriously depleted, Syria is still viable, Hezbollah is stronger than ever, and they're fast on their way to being Americas most important ally in the middle east.

One of the things I kept on pointing out way back, as did many others, was that getting rid of Saddam was going to hand Iran a new ally in Iraq.
But I suppose it's no surprise the party who gave us Iran-contra had no problem with that, and is now calling on us to sit down with Iran. I think they've all been closeted admirers of Khomeini from day one. Just wanted to repeat what he did in Iran here, except here as a "Christian republic".
