General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHillary Clinton has demonstrated that she will say anything to get elected
she's a pandering opportunist; a corporate crony to banksters and was unrepentant about her craven vote for the IWR for years. In fact, she's still not repentant about her bloody vote.
And sorry, but her association with these folks is none too savory:
Through all of her years in Washington, Clinton has been an active participant in conservative Bible study and prayer circles that are part of a secretive Capitol Hill group known as the Fellowship. Her collaborations with right-wingers such as Senator Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) and former Senator Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) grow in part from that connection. "A lot of evangelicals would see that as just cynical exploitation," says the Reverend Rob Schenck, a former leader of the militant anti-abortion group Operation Rescue who now ministers to decision makers in Washington. "I don't....there is a real good that is infected in people when they are around Jesus talk, and open Bibles, and prayer."

And let's not forget her race baiting comments- it wasn't just bill:

(25,406 posts)There was a thread about "The Family" earlier that suggested that Hillary was a fan of Hitler, Stalin, and Mao. Is "The Fellowship" something different?

I read them all. They are very telling. I wonder just how far you're planning to take this, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

(7,940 posts)but I thought Hillary was the lesbian girlfriend of Vince Foster and had him "suicided". Usually Globe has the lottery on which Clinton is dying within the next few months.

(1,399 posts)If that's the only way to win 2016 sign me up! Too much is at stake, people who think the country will vote for a far-left candidate are as delusional as the freepers who think the country might elect a Ted Cruz.
I know you don't care for her and that's fine, you're entitled to your opinion, but a lot is at stake here, especially on the social front and the SCOTUS. If it takes a "pandering opportunist" to win then bring her on, if she could win big in 2016 by taking some southern states in addition to the states Obama took it could give her a stronger mandate to govern.
There's also one inconvenient fact a lot of people on here are going to have to get over: most self-identified Democrats actually like her, more so than in 2008.
And if you want to try and discredit her don't worry, the right wing is already on it like stink on caca.

(9,289 posts)Probably she was just trying to be accurate. When she said "hard working Americans" were supporting her, she realized that that would imply that black Americans supporting Obama were not hard working. So she added "white Americans" to make her claim more precisely accurate. For the most part hard working white Americans were supporting her. Hard working black Americans were supporting Obama. You could interpret her remarks to be race-baiting, but you could also interpret them to be innocent attempts at accuracy.

(721 posts)Or most other politicians. We'd like to think the politicians we support are above that sort of thing, but alas, few are. I'd like to run across one that stuck to the truth in most cases, and might even vote for a person like that no matter the party, simply because it's so rare. I cringed a bit when I heard her response, but it's not unexpected coming from her. I guess we just roll with it. There's too much invested in her running. Money, favors etc. Bill is invested too. I doubt if there will be a vigorous challenge and no one will want to cause too much damage to the brand in a contentious primary a la last seasons republicans fiasco. If she's already got a lock to be the nominee, we just accept that it's her or the other guys, and support her as we can.
